Kinda surprised that you don't rinse the Purple Power before applying the 303 Aerospace. Also, I have a background in industrial cleaning and often have to use bleach when or where I had rather not. If you check with your local pressure washing supplies warehouse, they will carry a product designed to neutralize sodium hypochlorite that is significantly hotter than what you might use for mold and mildew or stains on a boat. It's easy enough to just mix a spray bottle full when you need to use bleach and immediately neutralize and rinse it away.

I’ve read on other detail sites that you should never use degreaser or magic eraser because though it does a really great job of cleaning, it also slowly takes off the protective coating in marine seats, which greatly shortens the life of the seat.

Awesome! Thanks for watching! For the sun screen, you can try super clean and magic erasers. That should work, sun screen can sometimes stain seats bad. You can also try alittle baking soda on the stain, let it sit for a few mins on the stain, if it’s on a white cushion

I would say rinse off the degreaser if you do a heavier dilution of 3 to 1. The mixture that I put in my spray bottle was pretty light, so it will not hurt the seats once you wipe it off and clean it with a 303. Thanks for the comment

I’ve done too many times over the course, but life, or too rough it can. I do it very lightly, just enough to agitate the surface to extract the dirt. This is not a recommended practice on a routine basis. I also always go back over the seats with a conditioner to make sure they are rehydrated.

Great great video. Best thing for mildew on the vinyl. I’ve tried everything and still have the spots. I read all the comments and found one comment you made about bleach. Most all cleaners have it or some variation of it. If used sparingly on light brown seats on a Key West, so think it’ll screw it up. I always wash thoroughly after those other cleaners and then use 303. Just can’t all the dang spots out. Haven’t tried magic eraser and bleach yet. Thoughts please. Again they are the light brown colored vinyl. Thanks in advance.

You know, its funny because magic eraser or the foam its made from is actually about 30 or so years old. It has been used in the insulation industry for sound and heat. Being its made from basically 3k to 6 dinner plate grit. I dont recommend to my customers to use magic eraser on their seats unless absolutely needed. But I hate using bleach on the seats or back rests.. The eraser is like 3,000 to maybe 5,000 grit sand paper and works by causing micro abrasions, woman call it exfoliation but in the world of abrasives its called sanding...And it leaves minor scratches that cause boat covers to make mildew marks on the seats fairly easy, and it leaves tiny white pieces behind as it wears down...Have you ever thought about that or noticed these things.....Look at a piece of vinyl with a magnifying glass. Thats what our gel coat guy told use to do...Then scrub it with magic eraser, you will see what I mean it does change the surface slightly and makes it feel thinner if scrubbing, so we always got to be careful no matter the product. ...But the amount of work you put in it will only be truly appreciated only if someone does this themselves. Because there is a reason there isnt boat detail shops everywhere , even car detail shops...That should tell you something usually around here the only places that do it are our marina's. Until I picked up the local lake here and am doing it myself for people...the market is huge as folks just are not happy with the production paced, hurry up detailing Marina's usually do...because time is money...with us folks that do it as income or on the side...It is hard work and can take someone all day....But its worth it..and the end product is better than most marina's ...thanks for the vids..

Love your videos, but am not a detailer. I do own a 2018 Regal 28 Express which is kept at Legendary Marine in Destin and have a couple of questions if you have the time. 1 - Is there a detailer over here that you would recommend and 2 - what advice would you give boat owners like myself for keeping the boat clean, especially one stored on a rack in a seemingly dusty warehouse? Thanks!
@DrakesDetailing4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! Unfortunately I do not know any detail that work with legendary in Destin. They have made it very expensive for detailers to work there, which is why we know longer service there. If you call the front desk they can give you a list of contractors that are able to work there. The best thing you can do to keep your boat clean is wash it at least once a week, never store it while it’s wet, also keep it protected with a wax about every 4 to 6 months and once a month spray McKees 37 Hydro pearl on the boat. Coming up in about a week I’m going to release a video specifically addressing this issue for boat owners to keep their boats maintained and cleaned. So stay tuned!

As a boat owner, who uses a professional detailer, I am wondering why most detailers use a spray bottle to apply products? I understand that product overspray is not good for some surfaces, but useful for the intended surface, so why not use a wet towel application rather than so many spray bottles? I am not being critical, but want to adopt the best methods for myself, to not do damage as I am trying to do good! Thanks, Venice,FL

If you were ceramic coating the seats after you cleaned them would you do an ipa wipe and leave the 303 off or what? Sick videos!!

Hey bro! On a non-sealed surface, use a little degreaser and a brush- then hose it away.

Love the videos man. Not a professional like yourself. But man your guidance keeps my boat looking fantastic! Followed this to a tee and vinyl looks like brand new. You mentioned using ceramic to protect. Is there special vinyl ceramic or just the regular spray coating?
@Annieswaney2 жыл бұрын
I try and tell my customers to always use a protectant if the clean them. I also tell my customers not to spray anything On the seats! Always spray on a rag then protect. Even I don’t spray on the seats, just for that fact that if it runs it can discolor the seats.

I use a similar technique but I use a seat soap with degreaser then I do use water then dry, then use 303 vinyl

does this strategy work for cushions that aren't already as clean and beautiful as these? I am buying a 1989 Bayliner and the cushions definitely need work! I wonder if this cleaning will help or if I'll need to replace them. Thanks for the videos! Sooo helpful!

Glad you like the videos! Yes, you might need to be a little more aggressive with the magic eraser on seats that are really bad. It’s typically not the best thing for them to be scrubbed really hard with a magic eraser but if they are that old then doing that is better then having them look bad! Just make sure to Always follow up with a protective coating like 303 after you are done scrubbing with magic eraser
