I’ve always felt that Ultracheese was kind of a matured man looking back on mischief in life. I don’t judge someone for their choices in life, but AM kind of seemed like that post-breakup period of partying after a harsh separation. Ultracheese kind of sounds like coming to terms with things. Alex looks like a "weary slightly jaded worldly musical poet college professor" in this interview. Thankfully not even a month later he looks a LOT more healthy, polished and stronger. Maybe he was stressed about how the new direction of the record was going to be received by the fans. I love this interview because this is one of the rarer interviews where the interviewer lets Alex do most of the talking. The new album is my least favorite of all the albums. I was fortunate enough to see them play live recently and the new music sounds a millions times better live with Alex performing the lyrics while singing.
