Could be. If they combine the level of production and less-used chord progressions of TBHC and combine it with more guitars, a bit more variety/catchiness, energy and more space for helders (from the albums before) they could very well give us something even better than the albums we already had.

The greatest rock bands always seem to peak in their 20's. Past that you deal with the consequences of success, the creative differences, the fatigue and burnout, the family needs, etc., and it takes a huge toll on the spirit that made them successful to begin with.

You're right that most peak in their 20's, But on the other hand, bands used to release albums more often, which could've led to the burnout....these days albums are often released with 2 year pauses at least. QOSTA released ...Like Clockwork way after their 20's..Radiohead released In Rainbows and Kid A, when their were in their 30's. I think the key (and a difficult one) at that to interviewing Alex and The Monkeys is to always strike the right balance between not taking them too seriously but also seriously attempting to get them at the same time. They definitely have the tongue in cheek british banter conversational type, but it's only when you can joke around with them and take a bit of a slack that they realise you get their humour, and only then will they open up more about what they really wanna talk about. They touched upon it explicitly in the beginning, the Monkeys were basically childhood friends who grew up in the same street and have known each other most of their lives. You can never wait to be included in the joke. You have to understand that you can never be part of the group, but able to take the mickey out of it anyway. You just need to be the fifth beatle.
