Basically, when you bottom out any vehicle you're going to be stuck. even a 4 wheel drive will fail once you're sitting on the frame. Soooooo yeah, this is not negative quality that's unique to the Santa Cruz.

Air down tires helps traction, snow tires are important with spikes also snow-chains for such deep snow should be mandatory.. also because Santa Cruz is a small size lightweight pick-up and with only the driver overall quite light for rear, it would also help in such heavy snow or sand dunes to carry something heavy or some gears in the bed or above in a roof rack some adventure gear like (rescue/tracks, a shovel, few canister of fuel/water) it might consume more fuel carrying extra weight but the weight it will provide some extra grip in harsh conditions..

I got SEL 23(Non turbo) and it did good job during the snowstorm in the Midwest(I’m in Missouri) even though I’m still using factory tires, I did not expect that handle well but Hyundai’s Awd was pretty enough for regular drive. For sure it is not designed for extreme condition but for the urban compact truck, i think it is alright. Thanks for the video. Safe drive :)

Great video! Thank you for testing this out. I was wondering how Santa Cruz would do in deep snow but was too scared to test out without changing tire and lifting.

Having the right tires makes a world of difference and with my Santa Cruz I run Bridgestone Blizzac for the winter, but not crazy to go in very deep snow! LOL

I changed mine last year to the same one. The clips are abit stubborn to pop out, I used a wooden spoon for leverage 😂. Also i did drop a nut inside the panel which took 10 minutes to retrieve with a magnetic tool😅. Looks alot better now.

@AdventureGT update: my Renny couldn't handle the deplorable conditions of Louisiana I-10 and has had the alignment knocked out of whack, the steering knuckle loosened, and possibly damage to my driver's side cv axle. Currently stuck in Texas until Monday.
@AdventureGT10 ай бұрын
Dang man, didn't see that coming. Sorry to hear about it. Was it just a freak accident? Never heard of that happening
@primalpagan763210 ай бұрын
@AdventureGT according to several mechanics I've talked to in the area, they all say that the I-10 run through Louisiana has been damaging cars because of how bad the road is. Mostly taking out alignments, I just hit a trifecta of trouble

Wondering how well it'll fair in snow conditions of Wyoming, Colorado, Alaska. As those are places I plan on being as my job allows me to travel to other states to work for the same company. Work and travel. Looking for a vehicle thats good for both hwy and offroad conditions, no extreme off roading but enough off roading to go camping/hunting off grid.

After 2 years and a few overlanding expeditions, I think the santa cruz would meet your needs. Just carry a set of traction board for the "oh shit" moments. Haha.

Winter tires don't just have different traction than all-season, they have a different rubber compound; basically it gets grippier as it gets colder (to a degree...).

@@AdventureGT i like your comment at the end "didnt think id get stuck" i knew youd get stuck, you got decent tires but it doesnt have the ground clearance for that type of snow and the electronic locking diff isnt a replacement for a transfer case

These vehicles are pieces of shit, I have a 2022 Santa Cruz SEL and at 37k miles motor had to get replaced, my heater stopped working and had to get replaced, the top trimming also has to ve replaced since they come off. It stalled 3 times on the highway with traffic and almost got hit twice and that was because of the transmission which is the non turbo 2.5. Unreliable garbage

He don't know about HTRAC. Do not turn off ECS and TCS. Do not use the sports mode in snow. Just use snow mode. And you don't need AWD Lock. It is the best mode in snow.
@AdventureGT10 ай бұрын
Strongly disagree. The settings I used, were for deep snow and off road. Putting the vehicle in snow mode limits throttle imput, which horrible for mud or even 4 inches of snow. How ever its great for Ice or starting of on a slick incline. Nobody uses traction control in off road conditions. It works great at highway speeds though.
