Thank you soo much for this video and this channel. As a Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt these videos and concepts along with instructionals have helped me have more confidence and pathways during wrestling exchanges 🙌

I shot a lot of short fireman's and outside fireman's and often times I would just switch to a short drag halfway through but I also love a front headlock it's all about elbow position to counter the drag. If you're elbow deep you're going to get dragged on. If you keep your elbow high no drag.

Love that detail at the end when they go underhook instead of front head. That was the piece I was missing in training the other day. Can't wait to get back on the mats now.

This video will be showcasing Peyton Robb and Carson Kharchla executing the short drag/sucker drag BY ITSELF. I want to show that this technique as a standalone technique is very effective to show how once it's combined with the dump/barrel roll it's super lethal. I also show it being used against some of the best wrestlers in the country. Stay tuned for videos 2-4

Elbow control critical from bottom, top guy should try to keep that elbow high as possible with chin control. Bottom guy can also stall the position out with good elbow control and get back neutral.
@bnwls436 Жыл бұрын
I disagree. You can go deep on a front headlock and be successful- if you you extend the arm/elbow of the other wrestler. You can't just squeeze his armpit. Also, if you have your right arm around his head, you want your right shoulder aligned with his right shoulder. If his head ends up directly under your chest, you lose your advantage. Finally, you want to be pulling/ moving to keep this good position until you attack/ finish. I like to pull my opponent to get him extended and create just enough space to reposition my shoulder and realign my lock so it extends his arm more. This is a great position to score from and just generally beat on your opponent. When you're done he should feel like he has been punched in the face a few times. But you have to be active. If you just hang out, that deep front headlock will get you into serious trouble. This is why I teach new wrestlers not to do it at all. Just hook both armpits pull/ move/ block/ drag. Once a wrestler has learned what it takes to fight to win position we move onto the good stuff.
