After a long day of searching I ended up finding fish way down deep in the mud. Not typically an early fall pattern but was defiantly the key for the day.

Caught some nice eater size fish today. Can you eat the fish from your waters or do you have the contamiation they have in the eastern part of the TVA system?
@mickaburkhart148 ай бұрын
Yeah I eat them. I just don't like keeping them until the water cools down. I hear it doesn't make a difference but I can definitely taste the difference.

@mickaburkhart14 makes sense. My local reservoir here in NC is Belews Creek. It's a power company reservoir that was used to provide water and cooling for a coal fired steam generator. The water stays pretty warm until the fall/winter. Also, lots of coal ash and heavy metals in the water. I don't estimate anything from Belews, but they are fun to catch😜

@@bluesdad54 lol yeah I'd probably just stick to catch and release on those.

Hey Micka great video like always! Like I have said before in my comments that I’m a beginner in the catfish world but a ole crappie fisherman for years. Like you have said that the temperature of the water has been coming down and the crappie have been coming into the bushes. I been getting good size crappie and while I was cleaning them it hit me to keep the heads from them which makes even more less waste? Question? What do you think about using crappie for bait and do you think it’s worth keeping them? Thanks again Micka and God Bless!
@mickaburkhart148 ай бұрын
Again thank you for your support. I have been using crappie for bait for awhile. It's just hit or miss when I get them. But they make a great bait. Not sure exactly where you live but just make sure you state laws allow you to use them.

I’m on the same body of water the Cumberland but a lot farther east of Nashville. It was just a idea that hit me the other day when I was cleaning them? But never tried them and I been trying to get skipjack or white bass but not to good on my body of water over here? Thanks for the come back Micka!

Micka sorry to bother but I have used chicken and shrimp but didn’t do to good on them? I haven’t used cut bait yet so asking I been using size 8 or 9 on circle hooks do I need to move up to 10 or 12 size hooks for using heads to get a good hookup?
@mickaburkhart148 ай бұрын
@@gregloftis5193 yeah it really depends on how you hook it. If I'm using a head I'll hook it on the back top portion of the head leaving as much s the hook as possible exposed. In my next video I'll make sure to cover that so you can see exactly what I'm talking about.
