Awesome video! For the avalanche rescue one advice is to get a nice shovel with a big blade and a long handle, if it has the hoe function it can be really beneficial too to move lots of loose snow really fast. One of you guys have a BD Evac and that's the best shovel in my opinion

Love you videos! I`m an snowmobile instructor in Norway(Need a lisence to ride sleds here) and I have noticed that alot of ppl around aren`t clesping their helmets together(especially your dad:P). Is it possible that you can try to raise awareness around properly fastening helmets? Not doing it properly is the same as not using a helmet at all. Really appraciate you`re videos were you get the folks to use their beacons! =)

how long do you think someone can be buried and sill survive. I can see how two or three diggers and three snow movers can help. Another bit is make sure everyone takes the batteries out of their beacon at the end of the season. Mine rotted last summer and destroyed my beacon. I got a new one. AK paul

Very impressed with the attention to safety and with the constant consistent training. I am not a mountain rider but as I watch these scenarios from the comfort of my home would it not be beneficial to choose 1 or 2 safety wardens who call the shots when a situation arises? May help the speed of recovery? In case of a real avalanche when and how quickly is a call made for outside help in a search?

Thats a lot of stuck sleds. Hopefully I don't get stuck that much with 162 800 rmk pro I just bought. First year deep pow sledding will be this year. Unfortunately conditions here are really dangerous. I live on the other side of the mountain where the 2 off duty constables just got caught in a avalanche and one died other in icu. So I'm going to make sure I go out with experienced people.

How do you guys keep your goggles from fogging ? I just recently started sledding further north in deeper powder and my biggest issue is there is nowhere to set your goggles down and even when they’re on my face I find they start fogging sometimes. Is there any good solution because I’m thinking of a one piece helmet but I really like the race aesthetic

Is suffocation the big threat in a avalanche? I’m from Indiana so I know nothing about it.
@cutznfadez46832 жыл бұрын
Yes.....
@darcywood76482 жыл бұрын
Suffocation is an issue if trauma doesn’t get you first. If you are thrown into a terrain trap like large trees, rocks, or the far side of a creek bed, the force of the moving snow unhinged you into or around solid objects can snap your bones. When you see the size of trees that get shattered, humans are pretty wimpy in comparison. But just being buried can let you suffocate slowly. The snow packs so hard around you that you cannot even move your arms. However, dead is dead either way. That is reality. This is why avalanche training involves risk assessment and finding safer alternatives as well as recovery.
