Sir - yours is a new idea , appreciated. However- it is very time consuming and a bit cumbersome. I have done it in a more 'simpler' way (?) . Simply put the slider on a completely smooth surface - like a wooden or iron plank, lay the slider straight on it, take wooden/ or even an iron hammer with absolute flat and smooth surface , gently smoothen up the bends in the slider and you are done! You can also straighten the slider by gently using pressure of your hands. As an amateur accordion player (hobby), I have often done it on old Italian accordions with 11 couplers. Sand papering a slider will make it thinner and definitely affect sound as more air moves in the treble holes. Thinner sliders tend to affect sound performance compared to those sliders which just nicely fit in the reed blocks. Please rest assure - it is no rocket science and you can just do it if you carry out routine repairs in your home gadgets . Caution - please never forget numbering slides and the side from where you are removing the slide. The number must be identical so each slide goes in its own slot. Slides must never be mixed up or your switch mechanism will go haywire. Warm Regards.

I can push down each register button very smoothly without problems, but nothing catches it in the depressed position, so it will smoothly pop back up again as soon as I pull back my finger. It feels like the register buttons are connected to nothing but empty air inside. Does my accordion have the same problem as in this video? It is a 1950s Traviata made in West Germany.

Doesn't sound like the save problem. Since switches are designed to come back up. If it's not designed that way, it might be because the mechanism was James and someone used too much force to break it. Does the switch change the doing at all?

I had some repair work done by by him and mic installed, would never have work done by him again! Got home me and the mic was installed duct tape and had fallen off and laying on top of the platelets, sent to Martin Accordions to fixed what work he did!

Sorry to hear that. FYI this video was taken when I visited the shop. My channel is not affiliated with this repair shop.

Very useful indeed! Thank you for patiently describing and demonstrating everything in detail! What is the green, cardboard with holes that sits behind the keyboard? Is that also a slider?
