My mom was the pretty, popular cheerleader in high school who knew everyone. When she tells me about those days, it genuinely seems like something straight out of a movie - absolutely iconic, and she doesn’t even realize it. It’s funny to me to see characters like this, who are similar to her, but unnecessarily rude, then to remember my mom, who _still_ gets messages thanking her for being so kind back in the day. She always rooted for the underdog and loved everyone. Idk, it just makes me glad. She could’ve been a completely different person, like some of the people in the comments are saying their parents were, but my mom has always had a heart of gold and couldn’t hurt a fly. (Shame I can’t say that about my dad, but c’est la vie). I’m just reminded of how grateful I am.

Bless you and your mom.. When I read about your dad thing I felt so seen 😂 same here. My mom was a badass but always kind. Every now and again she also receives messages til way from her elementary days but sometimes her memories are failing and she wouldn't remember. the person. She would remember it later when the person would elaborate their interactions. I find it fondly amusing. But yeah, my father in the other hand.... Well, he's a sad man.. It is possible to test out of university Spanish, though. We still used CASSETTE TAPES for that portion and I couldn’t hear if it was Spanish or any of the romance languages behind all the work out hissing. I also think they recorded them from the worn out vinyl when they “upgraded”. I still passed. I still took Spanish, as I was guessing for the entire listening portion.

My mom has Borderline Personality Disorder and was very unstable, but also well liked. She hid her pain very well and was very popular in school. She was also very kind and befriended the loners. But when she was with my dad, she was extreme and became manipulative. They met in high school and were very toxic for each other. I think I would have liked her though. A lot of the loners have found her on Facebook and thanked her for being so nice to them in high school. They have sent her pictures of them from the 70s and 80s just hanging out and having fun, and my mom had never seen the pictures before. They’ve told her that she changed their lives by just noticing them. My mom was not very kind to me when I was a kid, but I know she was struggling as a single mom with twins. She’s much better now that I’m in my 30s. I love her very much.

As someone with BPD, I've had people tell me I'm kind and that people like me. Even a therapist said there was something about me she like. It's the personal torment, you know what it feels to be different or weird, so you go out of your way to make someone feel special (at least in my case). You try to hide the bad moments from outsiders. Sorry to hear your Mam wasn't very nice to you in your early years, but so happy things are much better. I dread my son saying the same thing as I had a break down 2.5years ago when he was 6. Just remember the disorder isnt the person. Really hope your getting on well with life ❤

I'm glad you forgave your mother enough to try and understand her. My daughter is BP. We didn't know when she was younger. She gated me and I felt helpless. After marriage and a baby she started to have serious problems mentally. She got help and found out she was bipolar. She has apologized to me so many times for her behavior as a bipolar teen. And I have apologized a million times for not being more aware of her needs when she was younger. We are best friends now. Her poor husband has told me he gets lonely because she is always at my house. But I always wanted to be best friends with her and now we are. I bet your mom feels the same joy. Before social dumb media and smart phones... before people were so butthurt over every little thing... before "I have trauma!" "Therapy! I/you/we all need therapy!"
