Raymond Lowey did remarkable designs that really stood the test of time! I had an Avanti and loved the way it looked. Didn’t much care for driving it. I also have a Fairchild 248 vacuum tube stereo preamp that looks and sounds gorgeous!

The Hawk on the Rust Bros wall is why I started watching. Wish more Studies could be featured. Thank you!!!

As a child, in 1953, my father imported a new one from USA into New Zealand. It attracted crowds everywhere. In a sea of brown and black, box-like cars, it was unbelievably low and sleak, but it seemed outrageous in its tourquoise exterior, with matching luminescent tourquoise and cream interior. The push button hill stopper was revelutionary. Push the button when you stopped on a steep hill, and you could take your feet off all the pedals. However, it was upstaged, when a year later, he arrived home with a gold, supercharged Golden Hawk, with detachable wings!

Dad loved Studebaker, we had three growing up. I learned to drive on a '53 Commander V/8, our last was a '56 Golden Hawk. A Muscle Car before the Muscle Cars. I was king of the Pack in '58. Ahh the memories.

JF it is great to have a woman like you got that loves and appreciates the old cars most women don't

One of my favourite uncles had a Studebaker. These cars were ahead of their time, my favourite feature was the Windshield wipers, they'd slow down as you'd speed up or speed up as you slowed down. It sure would be nice if I had some form of memory of what model it was. Well have fun with your new toy, maybe call her Uma, like in Uma Thurman, after the place where the father bought her, Yuma. I can't believe how pristine the interior is, what a find.

I love the car. I'm not sure I want to watch you change the front, especially if it's to the Hawk you showed a picture of. This one looks very well proportioned to me..

A set of those hard rubber workshop wheels would have been a huge advantage here!😅

i didnt see any messages relating to the "metal rod" inside the car, was that a part of the car, or trash? just curious.
