My relative also lives in canada as a student, he said that u just have to give first month and last month's rent initially, then normal rentsl every month. So the first 2 month ka rent is only like deposit, so its easy to rent

You'll find living in the basement to be really good during the summer as it'll be cool downstairs!! Also most homes in Canada nowadays have 2 and a 1/2 townhouse and semi detached) to 3 and a 1/2 bathrooms (detached). But a lot of older homes typically had 1 bathroom in their home. Not sure what the water costs are as compared with India? But I feel it's easier to maintain and clean fewer bathrooms in a home vs many.

You do not pay for usage of water. Only the heating part...so the hydro bills. This is a small house . A standard house will have 3 washrooms. I do not know prices in Windsor, but $1800 for such a small house seems pricey. The locals seem to rip off international students.
