Absolutely love your videos! I’m hoping to do Adult Nursing in September 2019. My son will be 3 years old so I love watching your videos to get an insight as to what to expect! Good luck with everything xxx

iella234 Thank you! That’s lovely :-) How exciting for you. You just have to avoid the negative comments about nursing and keep positive. Nursing is incredible and so worth it. You’ll love it!

This is completely random, but I'm starting my nursing course in Sept and I really want my nose pierced. I know its completely the wrong time to do it, specially because I've done a degree and a masters before (should have done it 4 years ago!) but I noticed that you've got a stud in and I'd like to know if you've been able to keep it in whilst on placement? :) brilliant video!

Helen Whitehead Hey! No problem :-) ask anything lol. I take mine out during placement to be honest and just wear it when I’m not there. But I think as long as it’s a stud it’s ok? 🤔

Loving your videos on your general practice placement! :) As a final year student thinking of going straight into general practice nursing I wonder what are your thoughts on the opinion that practice nursing de skills nurses and that newly qualified nurses should work on the wards once graduating?
@ClaireCarmichael6 жыл бұрын
Rochelle Yunghoi It depends on what you want as a nurse I guess. I personally think you gain far more skills as a GPN than on the wards. Some students see skills as the practical things you do only on a ward like cannulas, catheters, manual handling etc... but for me, the real nurse skills are the ones that provide that holistic care for a patient. You’re not just treating a symptom and letting them go home. I love that in GPN you can treat the patient as a whole rather than just a symptom if that makes sense? I’ve gained so much more on my GP placement than I have done all my first year on wards. It’s amazing ☺️I love it x

Claire Carmichael yes I completely agree. I’ve had a lot of nurses tell me that I’m making the wrong decision to go into GPN and that I should work on the wards first but feel that GPN is really where the extreme variety of skills are at! Good luck on your nursing journey! 😊

Rochelle Yunghoi I want to try and change those attitudes. Because GPN is marvellous!! And if you don’t plan on ever working on a ward why do you need to go and gain ‘experience’ that’s what we’ve been doing for 3 years as a student 🤷🏻♀️ haha. When do you qualify?
@rochelleyunghoi2776 жыл бұрын
Claire Carmichael haha I absolutely agree 100% and think that us prospective GPN’s can do lots to educate others and shine a positive light on practice nursing. I intend to qualify end of July!

Rochelle Yunghoi We should ☺️ I think all students should at least experience it for themselves and decide. Would definitely take away some of the stigmas around GPN haha. Oooh that’s not long at all!!!! How exciting. X
