I had the honor to be there during the 70th anniversary with friends from the Czech Republic. We met in Prague, drove through Germany into France, went north at Paris and had arrived in Normandy. We had camped near Omaha Beach. On June 6, 2014, I awoke to the sound of a church bell ringing in the distance. I was wondering "Who is ringing that church bell??" The bell was getting louder and louder. All of a sudden, more church bells were ringing. I had looked at my watch and it was 6:45 am. All of a sudden, I shot up in my cot and had realized the bells had signified 70 years to the minute the D-Day had begun. That night, the people had firework displays on the beaches of Omaha, Juno, Sword, Gold and Utah.
