@@klokoloko2114 Not all plastics are created equal. Hard plastics are recycled for profit. The film/soft plastics get shipped to 3rd world countries and pollutes their waterways or dumped into the ocean. Most people have no clue what happens to the plastic they throw into those blue bins, or the entire recycling process. They just assume it's all processed locally. In reality, the local recycler is the first stop. They pick out the most profitable materials, then take the trash and ship it overseas so they don't have to pay for a garbage disposal fee of the local landfill. They sell the waste products that are too costly to process here (like film, electronics, etc) and put it on a boat to a broker to ship around the world. Note the CO2 emissions of shipping around this stuff on trucks, and shipping boats. The brokers then look for materials for themselves and sell them, or they dump it in the ocean or water ways. The stuff that gets process are usually by cheap labor who are shortening their own lives spans including kids. The waste water is dumped into the riverways and in some countries have been recently banned because it was killing large numbers of their waterways. This is the dirty secret of those blue bins. There are a few documentaries on the subject if you would like to check them out. Very eye opening and sad.

You can push for renewable electricity so CO2 won't be produced when you heat you dinner. Fighting climate do not mean we will abandon modern way of life but transforming our society to have all what we have right now without CO2 emissions and that regular Joe can't do alone but those who provide our heating, transportation and electricity need must transform to CO2 free infrastructure. Putting blame 100% only on regular people is deceiving. They speak a good game but not willing to put in any work. You live by example and try to inspire others of a better more sustainable way of living. That's how I do things, and it works. Simply tweeting and protesting is pointless. Do your part, and try coming up with solutions rather than expecting others to come up with them. It's just annoying. We call them in the community Coffee Shop environmentalists. They talk about about saving the planet while doing nothing and not even realizing sitting in a coffee shop (burning energy and waste products etc) is not a good thing for the environment. I'm not saying everyone needs to live like me or live in some rural mud hut. What i am saying is just understand the world around you and how you fit in. Things like how much water you use (and could save with some small improvements that can lead to massive communal savings), where your waste products go, energy usage, where things are made and how they are made, and where your food comes from and how it reaches your table. It's just looking at how you fit into the natural world and respecting it. I see it as no different from camping in the woods. I was taught to enjoy nature, but when you leave the campsite, clean up your own mess and try to leave it a little better than you found it. Yes, lets eat less food because it's toxic and not blame those that produce our food, this is the analogy of this video. CO2 is not your or mine fault and it's not, should we abandon modern way of live or not. but those who provide our electricity or planes travel or heating for our homes to provide those goods that we need without CO2 emissions. This video is well know tactics that fossil fuel lobby and this journalist is using to say that you and me are responsible for climate problems and CO2 emissions and not those that supply those goods to us with CO2 emissions. Also they use tactics divide and rule like "politicians use planes and you must stop" so now regular people won't support climate actions because politicians are "hypocrites" . What politicians must do is to implement regulation to push those that provide our transportation, heating and electricity need to be CO2 free and this is something that fossil fuel business is most scared so they use multiple tactics to deceive people like this video.

Part 2 is to post this video to show to people who are already not democrat to further entrench them against democrats by giving them a "Look, see! They're hypocrites." moment. When in reality, again, Biden's plan *never* called for air travel to stop. Only using a bike, no car - This is also false. Biden's plan calls to make 50% of cars electric by 2030. This is a good goal and is very doable. No one is being asked to stop using their petrol-powered vehicles in the meantime. Also, Biden's plan calls to make public transport electric as well. So, no. People would not be restricted to only using their bikes. Eating 3 cold meals a week - After actually reading the plan, I found that this was nowhere to be found. While eating meals you don't have to cook sounds like it would be helpful, it's literally a drop in the ocean. However, eating a vegan diet is the single most impactful thing an individual can do to help reduce their carbon footprint. That one girl didn't want to give up vacations, essentially, or at the very least ones where she couldn't fly there. Didn't occur to her to drive or perhaps even that her travel isn't as important as the death of the planet. If that's what we're talking about, those are relatively minor asks. Not being willing to do very small things really does lend to the idea that climate change, at least for those in this video, is a talking point, an idea, something nebulous, not a murderer on your doorstep right now but a threat of the coal in your stocking at Christmas.

@@malindemunich2883 - "Forget the "Biden's plan" part. If you truly believe the world is threatened to die in 10 years..." First, the world isn't going to die, it's going to become much worse for humans to live on earth due to climate change. At least pretend to know what you're talking about if you're going to join the comment section. Second, this was about asking kids if they'll support Biden's climate plan (which was a lie, as none of the three things the interviewer asked were a part of Biden's plan). So, why should we forget about Biden's plan when it was the subject of the video. "(or whatever timeframe is espoused now)" Yes, science improves and we get more accurate forcasts as time goes on. "wouldn't you do absolutely everything to prevent your part in it?" Even if one person did litterally everything they can, the systems that are in place would still destory the environment in their lifetime unless those systems are changed. It would actually be more effective to stop climate change to fly on a plane 2 or 3 times a year, and to live within society trying to change our laws to change our systems than it would for someone to go off-grid. "Not everything you find convenient enough to fit into your life but literally everything you can work around. That one girl didn't want to give up vacations, essentially, or at the very least ones where she couldn't fly there." Going home from college to visit family is a good thing. I don't remember the word "vacation" ever being used, though. "Didn't occur to her to drive" driving in your own car as opposed to taking an aircraft filled with 100s of people would be more harmful. This is one reason why this video is a lie. It has you and everyone else believing that flying is somehow more harmful than driving. "or perhaps even that her travel isn't as important as the death of the planet." Again, one person's actions won't save us. Having people who actually want to change our systems live in our society instead of going off grid, in the end, is going to be more impactful towards changing those systems that are the real issue here. The video starts from the false premise that thes kid's individual choices are what's going to make the difference. "If that's what we're talking about, those are relatively minor asks. Not being willing to do very small things really does lend to the idea that climate change, at least for those in this video, is a talking point, an idea, something nebulous" It actually seems like they understand how big the issue is more than you do. "not a murderer on your doorstep right now but a threat of the coal in your stocking at Christmas." This analogy doesn't work. Feel free to try another one, though.

The thing about climate change that irritates me is the emphasis on protecting todays young people from the damage caused by present and previous generations of adults, which entirely ignores that for the past 20 years and even more currently, young people are arguably at the heart of the problem. My generation walked and cycled to school and on hot days we opened windows rather than expecting AC in every room. We did not discard Trainers and other expensive clothes purely to keep up with latest trends, we replaced them when they were worn out or outgrown, and the same with all the latest mobile phones and electronic gadgets, which we never had access to, let alone continuously upgrading to the latest trendy model. We also ate the food cooked for us at home, rather than eating expensive takeaways delivered to our doors without any thought to the transport pollution that causes. @@klokoloko2114 I don't know what you're expecting. If you think our corrupt leadership is going to fix it for you, you're dreaming. Her narrative comes straight from what Biden has proposed we do. She's pointing out the hypocrisy of those that scream about climate change and do nothing to fix it. I did put the blame on me that MY food is produced with toxins so I now do produce it myself, or source it from places I can go and watch it get made. Next up: producing my own power. I'm not rich. I've never made more than $40K/yr as a household. I am 40 years old and physically and psychologically disabled. Yet, I still somehow was able to do something that your comment makes it sound impossible for healthy young people to do. So, what's your excuse? If you actually care about something, you'll make changes for yourself. After changing, then you can talk to people about what they should do. Your logic here is the same faulty logic as the college students in this video. "The world is messed up because everyone else needs to change!!!" Well, good luck with that. Changing other people is extremely hard, especially when you are unwilling to change yourself. As Michael Jackson said, "I'm starting with the man in the mirror."

I love how all the interviewees criticized the politicians for the same hypocrisy they just displayed. So close to achieving self-awareness, yet so far away.

This video is BS. Air travel - Biden's plan doesn't call to stop air travel. Pretending as if Biden's plan calls for people to stop flying is disingenuous, and it's a pathetic tactic to turn kids against democrats. That's part 1 of their real agenda here. This video is full of lies, pretending Biden's plan called for three things that it never did. Misleading kids is what the right pretends to be so upset about thinking the Left is doing it, but here's a perfect example of the right doing it.

@@nic8671 I think you missed the point. The whole point was that your average climate change activist would not be willing to make sacrifices in the name of their ideology. They illustrated this by literally asking these kids if they'd make a climate pledge which they nearly all refused to do. There was only one point where they said "this is Bidens policy" and it was at the end to ask if they think the rich and powerful will make the same sacrifices. The pledge was something they made up which they stated in the beginning of the video. I don't see where they mislead anyone. It was simple test to see how far these kids were willing to go for their own principles.

@@nic8671 I also want to point out that the general claim of hypocrisy amongst democrats has merit. There is a video of a climate change advocate being interviewed where he says he should be able to fly because he's important. There're many democratic socialists that live lives of obsured luxury. Gun control advocates that hire armed security. Defund the police advocates that do the same. Democrats that call out right wing extremism but ignore the left. Straight up bailing out violent rioters. People that advocate for discrimination to fight discrimination. The left and Democrats are by and large hypocritical and disingenuous. They represent a significant threat to the well-being of this nation and it's people. I could go on.

@@GamerModz123 - "I think you missed the point. The whole point was that your average climate change activist would not be willing to make sacrifices in the name of their ideology." I disagree. I don't think they are "average climate change activists" at all. I think their idealogues. Which is why they were included in the video, and they didn't inter people at a climate rally. "They illustrated this by literally asking these kids if they'd make a climate pledge which they nearly all refused to do." Right, but they also lied saying that Biden's plan asked people to do those things. "There was only one point where they said "this is Bidens policy" and it was at the end to ask if they think the rich and powerful will make the same sacrifices." No, that wasn't the only place. Watch it again. Also, it was purposely inferred that what they were asking was Biden's plan. They did that on purpose. Why not be transparent and say, "none of these things we're asking were a part of Biden's proposal."? I'll tell you why, because this video was meant to deceive people, both the people being interviewed as well as you, the viewer of the video. "The pledge was something they made up which they stated in the beginning of the video." They didn't say they made it up, and they said it was "in support of Biden's plan" which was false. "I don't see where they mislead anyone." Then your admitting your head is in the sand. Ok. "It was simple test to see how far these kids were willing to go for their own principles." Ok, but I'm sure if they asked if they'd do things that were on Biden's plan, they would've all said yes and signed.
