Hey y’all, let’s be clear about this: bullying might be a contributing REASON for why this happened, not an EXCUSE for why this happened. Seeing a lot of people in the comments blaming the bullying itself more than the kid who decided bringing a gun to school is a good solution to the bullying.

Bullying is not a reason to take innocent lives. He could have done a million other things to get the attention he needed that did not require killing innocent kids. I can't feel sorry for him for that reason. I don't usually put as much blame on the family/parents because even kids from really good upbringing can do terrible things, but these parents definitely are part of the problem!

Hi guys I hope youll read this and open your heart.. So, I remember my fears of death. However, I saw that the 10 commandments are God's law. As most people know, we all have broken them. I realized at a time, that I had lied, which made me a liar. I had stolen, which made me a thief. I had blasphemed God's name and used it as a curse word. The God who gave me life and created my DNA, I disrespected immensely with blasphemy. I thought I hadn't committed adultery. But Jesus said that even looking with lust is adultery with the heart in Jesus eyes. So wow, I was also an adulterer. I realized, if God judged me by the 10 commandments, I would be guilty. What about you? Have you broken God's law too? I thought since I was a supposedly "good person" I would go to heaven. But the bible says, "Most men will proclaim each his own goodness" meaning we all can defend our goodness. "I'm not as bad as that person! Well look at hitler! I give homeless people money"!But see, that wouldn't work in a court of law. If a man committed a crime like murder and tells the judge "Judge, yes I'm guilty, but I'm a good person. I help my family, I donate to charity, and I'll do better!" If the judge is a good judge, would he let the criminal go? No. He would say "I'm judging your crime not your good works. And of course you should do those things and of course you should be better. You're going to jail!" Well God is a perfect judge. He is just and the only righteous and holy being. The world is fallen and we are the ones who make this world sinful. God not only knows our crimes, but our thoughts and hearts. So I would be guilty and deserve hell because its either be with God (goodness comes from God so heaven) or be an enemy to good and be separated from Him and all good (hell). But, He sent His only begotten son to die on the cross bcuz he's also merciful. But you may not know this: The 10 commandments are called the moral law. You and I broke the law, Jesus paid our fine. Thats why when He died, he cried out "it is finished!" Meaning the debt had been paid for us to accept. And He died then rose again and defeated death and what you have to do to receive reconciliation is to have your heart changed. We cant do that, we arent God. But He can do that. Seek Him and ask for reconciliation. He loves you. Most of us are like a person standing at the edge of a plane and we know we have to jump. And this is our plan: we'll flap our arms and save ourselves. Don't do that! Trust the parachute! Truly truly seeking God for reconciliation is belief because its believing He can answer. We cant give sin up but God will handle it if you seek reconciliation. Be humble and ask for His mercy. Once you truly do this, God will grant you everlasting life in heaven with Him as your father! And He will also give you a brand new heart that desires righteousness because of your faith. That is being born again. You will know you have been saved and that Jesus is your savior💗

What he basically said was don't back down. Quick story: When I was a freshman a senior thought he could push me around. He came up to me and challenged me. So, I rembered what my Dad said and I said I had to fight. I did good in the fight and I thought I won. Point being I was never bullied again. They bring up kids to be such Sally's today.

I’m a retired educator and school counselor. It’s not the kids that get bullied that become school shooters. It is the entitled kid that doesn’t get the recognition they think they deserve. Their behavior to gain that attention is what causes them to feel bullied and what may look like bullying from the outside. Real bullying occurs when a child does not look for the negative attention but they are singled out and harassed.

Horrible take and that thought process is just going to bring rise to more school shooters. Bullying is bullying there is no such thing as real or fake bullying. Telling a child that your not being bullied your just attention seeking just invalidates there feelings and forces them to take matters into their own hands leading towards things like suicide and more school shooters.

@@ron2237 understand that I worked in a school that was 98% at risk students, where the average yearly income was under $15000 and most were on welfare. I did on average 3 to 5 suicide assessments a week and sometimes multiple in a day. I had insight into bullied kids. Bullying has a victim and these kids are not victims. They feel they deserve to be included in the crowd they want to be a part of. They speak out at inappropriate times about inappropriate things. They demand attention and so it is often negative. Victims go out of their way to avoid ridicule and harassment. I also did many threat assessments where a student would make some type of indication that they wanted to do harm to another. Oxford dropped the ball. We included an officer, the student was not allowed on campus without escort of security or the officer, social media accounts are checked, the student is searched and the homes are checked if there is even a possibility there is a weapon. I am from Colorado we take this seriously for a horrible reason. Bullying has never been the actual reason for school shootings.

Why didn't the school ask those students why that stayed at home that day? Why did the school ignore all of Ethan's red flags, why didn't anyone just pull the fire alarm? Why was the counselor a complete idiot. Why didn't they call the cops on the kid sooner. Apparently the kids knew Ethan was dangerous? But the adults didn't care untill 4 good kids died? Why does the entire school district have weak safety regulations? I think schools need to close untill they fix this problem because the worst thing for anyone is to die in school. That sucks.

Hi I hope youll read this and open your heart..

And as much as the right to bear arms is not as important to the citizens of most other countries, many other countries have implemented gun control laws that have stopped or vastly reduced the numbers of shootings that take place there - without anything even resembling a ‘civil war’. Would America really experience a civil war simply because its government finally decided it cared more about protecting the lives of its citizens - especially its children - than it did about an outdated amendment that has cost countless lives? Would gun control laws such as those banning the unnecessary purchase of, for instance, assault rifles, semiautomatic weapons, specific handguns, by citizens with no or little use for such potentially deadly weapons really cause a country to fall? We have seen gun control laws work time and time again in many countries to cause significant reduction in or a cessation of shootings there, with little or no repercussions. And not to mention some of my teachers even had baseball bats in their classrooms just in case, an Everytime we had a lockdown, teachers barricade the doors and grab something to protect themselves and their students. Several years ago a school shooting occurred at the high school I attended. Except this shooting was done by the school resource officer (also a local police officer) who shot and killed a deranged man who entered the school, following a student who was late getting there. The school immediately went into lock down and the resource officer confronted the man who was armed with guns and intent on using them, in the hallway. She tried at first to diffuse the situation but when she was unable to do so she shot & killed him before he could endanger anyone else. The school was Sullivan Central High School in Blountville, TN. The officers name is Carolyn Gudger, and in my hometown she is a hero. She is the perfect example of what a school resource officer should be. A courageous woman who did her job, putting her life on the line for the students/faculty she was hired to protect. I was very disappointed that there was not a lot of media attention surrounding this incident, except for locally of course. I just really wanted people to see what a difference having a well trained, courageous police officer who takes their promise to protect and serve seriously on campus can make in these situations. I share this story so that the world will learn about this hero that is among us by the name of Carolyn Gudger

people died. kids died. all those kids now have trauma from what happened. people need to take this more serious and make schools more safe. some kids even knew that was gonna happen and TOLD TEACHERS and warned them and the teacher still didn’t listen didn’t believe them and just thought it was a joke.

I have 2 relatives living in USA, one of them went there to meet his father and the other was born there... and both are high school students... I never thought I should worry about their safety because I thought those shootings at schools were minimun, something that rarely happens... that they were lucky for living there instead of my country. I didn´t know about the severeness of this issue.

They need to hold oxford staff fully accountable as well. The principles the teachers every one who was in that meeting. The principle should be just as guilty!! they should of searched his backpack when he was brought into the office, he let this happen. TIM THROWNE IS JUST AS GUILTY!!!!!! He failed everyone in the school the 4 lives lost. they should of made him empty his pockets and subject to search for his actions, he should of been admitted to a 72 hour hold not released back to class with the rest of the school.

I am awe by this news. In my opinion, the law in school should be amended, there seems to be "Bully" in every state of the US School. The 15-year-old boy could be in big distress because of how others treated him. "Stop the bully, it will resolve".

I agree with your statement but still, in my opinion, this is not the first time someone walked into the school boundary with a gun. We human beings have a tendency to withstand challenges, however, for the minor ones, they precipitate with unusual activity. By all means, these things should be taken into measure by his parents who bought a gun in the home. "I'm stating my thoughts and hope this wouldn't affect anyone by my words". Thank you!

Distressed or Not no one should walk into a school With a gun. Also he had serious behavioral problems, which on the day of the shooting he had a parent teacher conference about. He even had a countdown for this shooting which is sickening

So every kid who gets shot is always a saintly angel who never ever bullied anyone, never hurt anyone, never mistreated anyone? You never hear anyone say “yeah, that kid was a jerk to some of us, that’s probably why he was targeted”. I’m not rooting for anyone to die, but it’s not realistic to slap angel wings on someone just because they died.

Our school 1 hour and 40 minutes away literally went back to no backpack policy in classrooms after a year of allowing it, must have a physical written pass with name, name of teacher, location headed to, time out, time returned, and if applicable a reason on it, no one can go through any door besides main door, and our school incident task force is out and about now more often. Social media is even being very carefully monitored now and anything suspicious is to be reported to a teacher, the school resource officer (a police officer for the school), or an admin, Ok2Say (a state wide program to report bullying or threats), or local law enforcement is needed. We are even bringing extra mental support in honestly not seeing why but knowing why. What will be next? K9 twice a month? Mental detectors and X-ray scanners probably honestly.

Here’s the thing…I know we say school shooting is a mental health and bullying related issue, but why do we not see school shooters that are girls? They get bullied. They suffer from mental illness. Why do we also see a lot of young white men do this as opposed to students of color? Why is this an American issue? I would like to propose the idea that school shooting is more of a white male issue and that that stems a lot from socialization, where we don’t teach young men to cope with their emotions and then they turn into rage. When white men feel threatened or like their manhood or power is in jeopardy, they are encouraged to do things to avenge their manhood. This is where violence, sexual assault, etc. and other things related to this sense of a perceived threat against their power in society. I’m not saying all white men are bad, or that there aren’t people of color or women who also commit acts of violence, but this large scale issue of male white rage is absolutely something that needs to be addressed in the ways we raise our young men and teach them to live with more compassion, empathy, and kindness not only towards others but also towards themselves so they can have a sense of self security. End rant.
