They are sailing *round* the earth. They aren't and actually can't travel along the diameter since earth is round. U can prolly use circumference of circle formula to get an idea

You have to go around at least 2.5 times Even if we accept that they travelled 40,075 km (or take 2000 km for an instance), you still can't do it, your food stock will get consumed even if you take a ship full of food and other necessary resources. (Remember journey by ship is much slower than a road trip).
