Thank you so much for the insight into your feelings and works. I appreciate your honesty. I really enjoy the slowness of your videos and the silence. Though I like music, I appreciate a video without fancy music in the background. It helps focusing on the real content :)

Thank you so much for saying, I often feel I shouldn't overshare so I appreciate you taking the time to write. And I agree - videos without music are preferred on my end, too. :)

I didn't realize that you framed your books. I would really like to see one framed as I love how they look unframed. I bought your course a few days ago & have slowly moved on from, I could never do this to maybe I could. So I'm forming an idea & making notes. I'm not creative but love making things. I have a small pad of thick watercolor paper & thought I'd start with it. Since it's not a book, I thought I could frame it (assuming I can move from vague idea to production). I love your work even your 'failures.' BTW, I love the purple flowers.

I think a watercolour pad is a great place to start (and much easier to frame). In the past I have used only shadow boxes or clear display boxes for my work, but they tend to cast shadows and make it difficult to see all the details inside the books. I haven't exhibited in a long, long time, and I'm playing with ways to frame them. I'll definitely let you all know how they turn out. Thank you so much for joining my course, I hope you enjoy! ❤

Maybe in some months you will look at your failed books and see new possibilities and even like them. Anyway thank you for sharing. I love your books. We always learn from failures. As long as you enjoy what you're doing it can't be all bad 😊

I truly appreciate you take time to answer questions and share the experience. By showing your beautiful works have encouraged me to pick up the art once again. Since then, I have done two little books and enriched the retirement life so much better. Thank you!

Your a beautiful Soul, take time out to re charge yourself with other things you enjoy and then come back to your work. Your works that you class as not good enough just embraces it, as it is another side of your creative side to conquer. Love your work. Huge Hugs and Blessings to you xx

I have turned some of my " failed" pages into greeting cards. Looking at your inspiring work, I think you would make amazing cards with the " fails" you showed....just the details are awesome.

They are still very beautiful. But... I know the feeling and dissatisfaction. Sometimes I reuse the projects even 10 years later :D. I love your videos and thank you and wish you all the best.

Do not beat yourself up! Those artworks are certainly not failures - Art is a process and sometimes things do not go as planned. I hope you feel a lot better soon - maybe you're overdoing things and need a well earned rest. :)

Just a thought but have you considered maybe experimenting with gilding for some of the coloured area's you're not happy with? It may not be entirely to your taste but it would be such a shame to completely relegate all of the hard work you've already done to the scrap heap? Your videos are beautiful and always so inspiring.
@IsobelleOuzman Жыл бұрын
I don't usually throw away failed books, I just mostly struggle with the fact that I can't figure out a way to make the idea work and store them away, but I think I'll come back to them eventually. Gilding isn't something I had considered (I find it a bit intimidating), though that is certainly a very good option. I'll have to do some research. Thank you so much for the tip! ❤

...I know the artist sees their own work with a detail beyond any viewer; but my heart reached out to the piece with purple blending into red flowers. There a silence, to that piece... like the cool side of your other books that have a glowing warmth. And the other, smaller, "ruined book" ...I can see you may not want to invest weeks and months into a piece that halted. But would you consider selling a "simpler" work of art like that? Or adding a simplified gold silhouette and calling it complete? Still, I know how personal art is; i have many watercolors that live in a box, never making it past that initial effort that I feel flopped 💛
@IsobelleOuzman10 ай бұрын
I haven't ever thought about it, but I'm not sure whether I would be comfortable letting go of something I feel isn't "right" in my mind. It's definitely something to consider. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and listen.

I noticed that you have some German books. May I ask where you get them? (I'm curious because I live in Germany and especially love fairy tale books. You create such beautiful works with them!)

Thank you so much! I live in Bratislava, so I'm very close to Austria. I often collect books from people in Vienna for my work and have quite a lot in German.

Regarding the first, could you just paint over it with something like gouache and start fresh? Regarding the second, I personally love the colors together. You're too hard on yourself.
