The great tribulation is from the antichrist and the Day of the Lord is God's righteous judgement. That's the difference between the two. That's why in Scripture the righteous are raptured before the Day of the Lord but after they have gone through great persecution.

To try to answer your question, which is a good one, my understanding is “that day is GREAT” - the time of Jacob’s trouble - is the Day of the Lord - which is NOT the tribulation, it is what immediately follows the tribulation. When Mat 24:21 refers to an unparalleled time of TRIBULATION, it is time of persecution against believers by the anti-Christ and his followers. The Day of the Lord which cuts that time short and follows the cosmic signs, is when the wrath on unbelievers starts. (I think part of the confustion is those teaching pre-trib position has equated the time of tribulation and the time of wrath, when they are very distinct. Tribulation is by the anti-Christ and those who hate Jesus against those who love Jesus. Wrath is by God against unbelievers. That at least is my understanding.

The information was good, not sure about the presentation. Kind of drug out the San Francisco to new York thing to long. But I'm already in agreement, and also a lot of pre tribs consider the 7 year period God's wrath, and it's not.
