I live in Canada - when I was a child we had a very old shop similar to this. We adored the man who ran it and when you went for snacks he always tossed in some free treats. The prices definitely rose over the years. It was very sad when they tore it down to put in modern shops. The memories of that shop are always with me. This was a lovely video.

Great story! I would love to vist her store. Grew up with these kind of neighborhood shops too! The cigarette candies are a familiar memory!
This was so charming to see! I grew up in Hawaii and we had similar shops, usually located near schools and always run by kind Japanese ladies. We could buy similar kinds of Japanese treats and local treats too. Maybe I can visit this shop when I visit Tokyo again next year ❤

What a wonderful shop! It makes me cry, it is so touching ❤ I am determined to visit Japan again, I visited before the pandemic for the first time. I just hope the shop will still be there. Imagine watching the shop with your friends as a child - hard work, but also magical.

Thank you for making this video. I'll try to visit her store when in Tokyo. By the way, I think it would be better if you can add Google Map link. Also many foreigners who are learning Japanese will also benefit greatly if there's a Japanese subtitle included in the Close Captions (CC). Not the auto-generated one though.

thank you for your advice! we will upload Japanese subtitles in the upcoming episodes^ ^

for generations the shop has been passed on. Nowadays when it gets to the 3rd is almost gone. The Japanese indeed love what they do and do it well.

The small businesses in towns have no one to take over and no profits. They continue to operate with only their "purpose in life" remaining somewhere in the place.
