@@presonus I have tried the feature this morning. Works great! I have one question tough: Is there a way to trigger variation based on the techniques you enter in the score view? Like If I write Pizzicato in the score view I would like to see a variation applied automatically in the variation lane but it does not seem to be the case.

This is HUGE. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'm so happy to know that Presonus started to give more attention to media composer. The only thing that I wish to add is "chunk" feature on DP. I hate using DP, they're so buggy on Windows, but can't live without it because of that feature. Please, dear Presonus, make "chunk" feature available on Studio One.

I'm a little late to the game but excited by this. I had a simple question...how do you get the note color on the piano roll to match the color of a variation? The actual demo (3:53) had the colors changing accordingly, but the VSL demo at the end (8:40) had them not changing. That is what I see...no change despite having variations applied. Thanks!

Great video! was wondering if you could automate sound variations/really edit them. like extending the vibrato effect or shortening it. i know i can bounce the thing and edit it but i was really hoping for an editing ability to really express the thing i was going for. thanks ahead to anyone who can answer!
@studioonetutorials
@studioonetutorials 2 жыл бұрын
Sound Variations are actually aliases or containers for certain MIDI events and properties such as key switches, MIDI CC messages, program changes or channel numbers. So the actual changes in sound depend on the instrument that you have assigned to your instrument part. If the instrument can adjust the vibrato effect and there's a way to control it via MIDI then there's nothing to stop you from controlling it with Sound Variations. However, if you are talking about gradual changes, automation is probably the better way to go.

Hi Presonus Team! I use Studio One 5 and VSL ; in the note editor, after right-clicking on a note, there is an additional menu than "sound variations", called "Articulations", with a list of similar articulations with musical symbols (like staccato, fortepiano..) than sound variations. When I activate an articulation, it seems to "cancel" the previous VSL sound variation. Could you explain what does it refer to ? I did not find neither automation nor MIDI editor for those "articulations"? Thanks a lot for your help!

Very good tool… it seems the most easier tool that we can use in a Daw to manage articulations, very near to Reaticulare which is also a fine tool used with Reaper. Expression maps of Cubase and the huge job to create its could be forgotten ! I just regret that SO don’t include an assignation tool for midi CC which is essential with big librairies which contain a lot of… it is not possible to remember midi cc assignations of all our libraries or synths… this is a relevant and, in my knowledge, an exclusive feature of Reaper. Everybody may imagine that it is easier to adjust a midi cc lane if we see Vibrato … if we see Cc21… you have to review the Vi to know what is its the relevant midi cc for vibratos… With this tool present in Reaper and a good articulation manager, it becomes a pure pleasure to use big libraries…

Oh dear 😢...........Going forward this is going to be fantastic - especially as a VSL using composer - well done to Presonus and VSL 👍. HOWEVER, I have just updated to work on my current orchestral piece and the keyswitch maps I constructed for VSL and the red lanes are destroyed! All the keyswitches have changed to ? and you can not see them as midi messages on the red bars anymore 😢 Sure, I can reinput every articulation for every musician for an 11 minute orchestral piece but I am really hoping there is a way of converting already made pieces - please help! 😁👍

The video shows an example where a part is played with single notes. But if two or three notes are played at the same time, is it possible to make it so that one plays a tremolo, the other is stacato, and the third is long? I think thats impossible in S1. It's sad, because you can do this in Logic Pro.
