THANK YOU! thank you! Thank You! I bought what seemed to be an awesome knitting machine (Singer Studio 560 with ribber) but have been unable to figure out how things work. PLEASE make more videos like this one. I know I'm not the only one out there that is new to machine knitting with no access to classes. An awesome follow up to this video would be how to knit using a pattern card with the ribber too. A video on how to use the built in Knit Radar would also be awesome! Thank you!

I’m sorry to hear about your personal struggle. I just bought a used machine with an EC1 so your videos are still quite useful and extremely helpful Thank you!

I am happy that I had uploaded all those videos, if my ex wasn't so selfish, I would have my equipment and continue, but until then, I am available via email or FaceBook Messenger. As for my struggles, life is so much better without having to be bullied by a so called man that gets his way.

Thank you, I will. I never in my wildest dreams realized that my soon to be ex was having affairs over the 4 decades, but now I find out the truth and eventually I will get back to more videos.

I should have done that a while ago, just forgot and then that machine was in use so had to wait until that project was done. Having had the SK580, I believe the buttons are the same and sure someone will let me know if I am wrong. Crossing my fingers for you and the other one that had requested it to get it working. There is so much the electronic card reader can do by pressing the different buttons.

Roberta, thank you so very much for this video. It answered so many questions for me. You make great tutorials that are so helpful! Thanks again for your time.

Your very welcome, I will have more as I can get to them. I am happy to help those that need the help. The visual is easier to learn than written directions. Even I have problems from time to time with written directions. Most the time the translation didn't do good enough for all to understand.

I am not 100% positive on that, but think it should work out. You would hook the external to your carriage and not to the back of the machine. Basically the internal one is the same as the external EC1 I show, so if you can get to someone that has this accessory, maybe you can try it out. I no longer have the SK580 so cannot check that out. Is your card reader not working? It may be a slim chance to get it fixed but NeedleTek in WA State would be the first place to ask on getting it fixed.
@RobertaRoseMeads12 жыл бұрын
Intarsia on any machine will be the same, just you have a different intarsia carriage to yours. When at my channel, search for Intarsia and there are a few, look at the one "Reading an Intarsia Chart". What the intarsia carriage does is put the needles to FWP with the work behind the open latches. Now for FI, You would push in the top middle button and set up like as for other brother patterning. When both middle buttons are pressed in, that is the Thread or Punch Lace. Hope this helps

Hi Roberta, This is a great video, thank you for sharing with us. I have a Studio 560 and would like to know how to remove the needles to clean them It's difficult to remove some needles on the left and middle side. Thank you.
@RobertaRoseMeads7 жыл бұрын
I had the same problem, but if you go to this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXW6lZiqbdadgsU I am sure you can do the same as I did. Now for the ones that are right there with the card reader or counter in the way, just pull it up and slowly, they do bend to where they can come out. Wish there was an easier way but at least for some of the needles, there is that one easier way. Berda

Thank you, from your video it appears I don’t need the N1 cam for doing all over fairisle? Only for single motif?
@RobertaRoseMeads2 жыл бұрын
You have that right, just for Single Motif but it does come in handy for that.

@@RobertaRoseMeads thank you! I didn’t get that info from the manual and was using it during all over fairisle. I appreciate you responding!

Just acquired a EC1 pattern controller for sk860. I find that some patterns won’t knit correctly for fairlise it does not look like the picture Checked all settings.

I would check the magnets on the carriage and back of the bed, what I was told to do, take a q-tip with isoprophyl alcohol and wipe them, let them dry and try it again.

I know this is old but, what kind of yarn are you using for this machine? what do i have to look up to find those big cones you are using?
@RobertaRoseMeads4 жыл бұрын
It looks like it is a 3ply yarn, like 3/15 coned yarn.
@ilovegod01063 жыл бұрын
Could you tell me where you get your yarn? Is there somewhere I could order online? Is it fingering or sport weight? I’m not sure how that works with the ply/count terminology
@RobertaRoseMeads3 жыл бұрын
For the standard gauge machines, I can get baby or sport yarn to work, but you can get coned yarn made for your machine at different places.

I haven't used the 560 in ages what if you were working and had to leave and shut it off I've had the problem that it wasn't on the right row and the pattern was messed up. How do you avoid that
@RobertaRoseMeads7 жыл бұрын
Been there on a couple of my electronic machines. What I would do is first make sure what row you were on, mark it down where you can, then when you start it up again, just start out on that row you need to start with. You may have to lift the lid to the carriage and let it recognize the magnets on the bed again. It has been a while but now that I can get my SK860 out again, I will get to use her as well as the EC1 or even DAK if I can get a computer near that table (sure I can find a way). Hope that helps, Berda

@RobertaRoseMeads11 жыл бұрын
hard to tell where one lives. So if you can find someone that can work with circuit boards, maybe they can get that working again. If not, I really don't see why the EC1 won't work on your machine, again not 100% sure.

I am trying to find how to make my own pattern card. I have the Studio 560 with mylar cards.
@RobertaRoseMeads7 жыл бұрын
I was told to get a No.1 Pencil. I am not sure how this would be with the water erasable pens, but I would make sure it is dry before inserting the Mylar Sheet. I also believe that drafting pencils would work also but I would first mark on the outside of one to see how that works before I go and mark up the sheet. Hope that helps, later Berda

Thanks for answering so fast! I am trying to make a neck scarf (2 colors) middle one color with 3 stiches of contrast color around edges. I want to make my own unique pattern. Would the darkened squares knit one color and the blank squares in the middle knit the main color? Do I only make half of the pattern and the other side will be a mirror image? Also do I need to put squares in the outside columns of the pattern so it knows where to start? As I said I have a 30 yr old Studio 560. It is in very good condition cause I had no time to use it when I bought It. I am watching your KZbin videos to learn how to use. I put weather stripping in my metal channel but the needles popped up so I cut the sponge in two Don't know if that is going to work. I ordered the sponge from Amazon to see if it works better. Have you done a video about how to make your own patterns?
@RobertaRoseMeads7 жыл бұрын
Well you can make the whole pattern but I think there was an option to mirror image, been a while since I had used my EC1 but will look at that to make sure. I believe what that option does is reverse the colors is all. But I think there was an option to double up the 60 stitches to make a 120 stitch pattern. I think you have to mark one of the boxes on the right side there, but will get back to you on that. Yes, the darkened squares would be 1 color and the non darkened stitches the 2nd color. Now you would set the, well I forget the names of it but little arrows to be how many needles you want and color in the squares you need to be one color and then leave the other boxes clear for the 2nd color. With the 560, you only have to set the one arrow on the right side of the work, with the EC1, I can set it to be anywhere on the Mylar Sheet. I did have the 580 for a while then I got the 840 but since then sold that and only have the 860 mid-guage machine and do need to get her out again and make up a sweater on her. Later Berda

I am from India .How can I purchase here this kind of knitting machine.please guide me thanks.
@RobertaRoseMeads7 жыл бұрын
Well I forget if this was the standard or mid-gauge machine. If the mid-gauge, those are only found as used as Silver Reed stopped production of those but maybe they will bring it back again. They did stop producing the bulky machines but now they are making them again but I do not think the ribbers can be purchased brand new still. So most likely you can find one on eBay or if there is any for sale sites your way, that may be the way to go. But the electronic machines do sell for a pretty penny these days. Later Berda
