Not all heroes wear cape. Thank you for this thorough tutorial and for getting everything straight to the point. I took a lot of time tweaking my settings too 😅 i wanted to avoid the thick black line on my A4 papers, hopefully i can stop wasting my stickers haha I’ve tried inkjet, the ink is soluble when it gets into the water. So i recently bought a new printer and filled it with pigment ink, its much cheaper than having the laser printer. The best part is, the pigment ink is waterproof.

Another great explanation. Charming artwork. They are adorable. I have been spray varnishing my stickers. Am experimenting with even spraying the vinyl to lengthen their lifespan. Do you test light fade? The uv light can be calculated to represent one year. Though I am thinking mine need to survive the weather. The trick is very easy when you explain it, for the tiny squares. That will definitely save us all products. Thanks for sharing.

When printing on glossy sticker paper/vinyl, it helps to lower the opacity of the graphic before you print, and to adjust sat/vibrancy accordingly! I like to do mine at ~85% opacity, 75 if there’s a lot of dark colors. That way they’re still visible and you can see the shading, and it’s a close color match :>

Hi, thank you so much for this video. I have a question, since I'm having some struggles with the measurements. (I watched literally every video on YT regarding this trick/hack) I can't figure out how to do this trick with A4 sticker paper, since Cricut asks me to load a longer mat, (if I resize it in Photoshop, and make it smaller, the margins/squares wouldn't be positioned right for the A4 paper. I really don't know what do to. I'm trying to start my sticker business, but Cricut is giving me a really hard time, especially because the tutorials are all in Us Letter versions (even if I use the converter, the cut is still somehow off for a4, (even with all the tweaked settings) :(( Could borderless printing be a problem? I hope you can help me, you'd be an absolute life saver. ❤️ PS. your art is incredibly pretty and I wish to have such skill someday ^^ - Lux

Loved your video and thanks for sharing! I think I will give Procreate a try as I have been using Inkscape and like to try different programs for the same projects to see which works better. I make bath products and need waterproof for my scrubs and have an upper end pro inkjet printer. For weatherproof/waterproof inkjet labels just an FYI. Even though they say weatherproof/waterproof 'INKJET' they always still need a coating on them to have them (the ink) protected from the water because ink is a dye most often. You can use just about any waterproofing spray after you have printed. There are a few youtube videos that demo the process. Tremclad makes a good one. I personally like "Neverwet". Spray the whole sheet, Let them dry and then cut. The other option is a clear laminate over your stickers. You can get matte or gloss. Using an 8.5 by 11 sheet of clear sticker paper works great to protect the ink. The only way to get a true waterproof label is with a laser printer and weather/waterproof laser labels. I called online labels and had a really informative rep take the time to explain the ins and outs of inkjet vs laser when it comes to waterproof labels. Looking forward to more of your videos!

@@awildfaun133 :D happy to help. Maybe you can do another vlog/tutorial on the same project and test out the spray ;D just sayin'! I am just in the testing phase myself with waterproof labels which is part of why your video was helpful. I have some samples coming of online labels' weatherproof gloss white and clear inkjet sticker paper and looking forward to trying it out. I am in the process of purchasing a colour laser printer as well to have for those product specific labels I need to be truly waterproof but avoid the process of a second step as my volume of labels needed just wouldn't make it reasonable for me to use that process. I will always keep my inkjet though for my other labels.

@awildfaun133

If you’re working in procreate, make sure your file is 8.5” x 11” (or whatever your typical papers size is). Procreate has the option to recenter the drawing guide and switch it to inches. I guess if your paper size is different like a4 or something, you could change the grid to be 0.5cm so that the grid would fit correctly. I really hope this helps but let me know if you have any other questions! It doesn’t have to be exactly a quarter inch. It’s really just used to bound the edges of your sheet so when you put it into cricut maker you can size is correctly

I love the organizing tip. I use my to make strips using my rolling rubber stamps and regular rubber stamps. Hi! I still don't get what those registration marks are really for (even after watching a bunch of videos) as the machine does not seem to register them. Is it just to have a virtual frame around the design to be sure to resize it correctly in DS?
@awildfaun133
@awildfaun133 3 жыл бұрын
That’s strange that the machine isn’t registering them. Their purpose is to have a way of knowing where the edges of the file are so when you add the file to cricut’s design space you can resize it correctly. It’s equivalent to having a solid line all the way around the file to know where the edges are, but in reality you only need two corners marked to bound the length and width ratio of your file. If the boxes in the corner weren’t there, when resizing the file, cricut would have the edge of the file be at an edge of a sticker’s silhouette. Thus the scale wouldn’t match what you print out (the cricut would cut the stickers bigger and unaligned compared to the actual print out). If your machine still isn’t registering them but the scale is working and matching with your print, I wouldn’t worry about it. Let me know if that makes more sense! If not, I’m happy to try and reexplain it :)

@awildfaun133
@awildfaun133 3 жыл бұрын
You’re welcome! I still calibrate it using the print and cut option. I would do the calibration with the knife tool but I learned that that’s different than the fine point blade (I believe that’s what it’s called). So my machine doesn’t let me do the calibration for the knife tool since I don’t have one. If you do have a knife tool though by all means try out that calibration option. I’m sure they both work well for this technique!

could you show how you make the tag...the tag with the part that shows the extra on the wings
@awildfaun133
@awildfaun133 2 жыл бұрын
I definitely could, for now though I'll try to explain it as best I can. In procreate, I create a new layer under my sticker, then using the rectangular selection tool I make a rectangle for the tea bag shape. To make the slants at the top, you can either just erase the corners or use the selection tool, turn it 45 degrees and remove the corners (your choice). Where the wing extends from the tea bag shape, I just used the hard airbrush to create the white outline. If you hold your pen down after drawing an arc, procreate will allow you to tweak the shape which is really helpful :) then it's just a matter of filling in the entire shape with white so cricut will know where to cut your stickers. I hope this helps a bit!

okay, I was super excited to try this method but my prints and cut keep being misaligned. It's not because I'm off by a few mm but it seems that my print is smaller than my cut (the cut goes wider both the left, right, top and bottom than what it's supposed to be). What confuses me is that I use the same png to print and cut, so I can't figure out why it would seemingly print smaller or cut bigger. Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!
@awildfaun133
@awildfaun133 3 жыл бұрын
It sounds like a scaling issue, so my initial thought is that when you print it, make sure the scale is 100% (if your printer doesn’t do borderless then you won’t see the little boxes in the corner print out which is perfectly fine, mine doesn’t do borderless either). You just have to make sure to print the png at 100% scale. Then in cricut maker just double check that you scaled your png to whatever your paper size is. If your cricut is cutting the little squares right at the edge of your paper, then your cricut is scaled correctly and it’s just an issue with your print scale. Let me know if that helped, otherwise we can brainstorm more fixes together!

@@alongcameanelephantmarloan9212 I’m wondering if borderless and scaling it to 100% are the same though? I’m not positive. Do you have a scale option? This might sound weird but you could also just measure how big your stickers are if you know how big you made them in procreate. If they measure smaller when printed then your printer’s scaling is the issue

My suggestion would be trying to recalibrate your cricut using the print and cut calibration (even though this isn’t print and cut). Then I would double check to see if you’re printing at 100% scale and see if your printer has borderless printing (if that’s enabled it might be making the print scale differently). My printer doesn’t do borderless so I just print at 100% scale. Let me know if it’s still not working and we can brainstorm more fixes together

What is the purpose of the tape on the mat exactly? I see so many doing it but no actual explanation as to why
@awildfaun133
@awildfaun133 Жыл бұрын
So when you cut anything on the cricket the program automatically shifts the edge of the cuts about 1/4 inch away from edge of the grid on the cricket mat. If you were to ask the cricket to cut out a square and in the cricut cutting program you had it align perfectly with the top left corner, then when you go to actually cut it out, the program will shift it that 1/4 inch to the right and down to give itself a small border. The tape is mapping out the border that cricut automatically puts in for any cuts that it makes so we know exactly where to put our sheet of paper. I hope that makes sense! It’s a little tricky to explain through writing.

As long as you have your canvas size match your paper size and get the little calibration squares in the corners of the canvas, I’m sure this hack could work in any program. If you try it in Canva, let me know how it goes! I’ve never used that program before

Hmmm sounds like something isn't lining up. I'd double check to see if all of your files match the paper size you're using. So when I print out the page (not through cricut's print and cut option, but just printing it from the png file) I always have to make sure it's scaled 100%. And then in cricut's design space I make sure that the cut file is scaled properly too (I use 8.5x11" paper so I make sure that's correct). I don't know if it's 100% necessary but in cricut's design space I make sure to position my files to the top left corner (under position: x: 0 & y: 0). My only other suggestion would be to remake your masking tape guide on the cutting mat itself. When you make the rectangle in cricut design space (for whatever size paper, I use 8.5x11") make sure it's also positioned in the top left corner. Sorry that was so long! XD Let me know if it still doesn't work for you. I'm always happy to help!
