This was a wash and repaint, not a restoration.

The gears were not aligned to proper assembly, and the free wheeling mechanism were not assembled according to proper orientation of turns. To check the free wheeling mechanism, hang the come along, put the selector at the no load position and pull the chain back and fort. if it is turning free the mechanism is fine. Check the load mechanism, brake assembly by hanging the come along and put a load of 3/4 ton. If the unit can lift it up, then the unit is safe to use.

That lever hoist was put back together incorrectly. Actually the hoist is destined for a catastrophic failure which in worst case could be deadly. Such a unit should only be reassembled by professionally trained and qualified people who have also taken the time to read the owner’s manual and understand what needs to be done so that the hoist can be used safely.

wow that was absolutely abysmal. first of all one friction disc was missing , both hooks are extremely overstretched, one with tip broken off,you did not reset the timing marks on gears,one hook latch is missing and the other is bad. you put the handle body cover on up side down, you did not install chain on the right side nor did you align all your chain links, you did not spring load you hand wheel so it will free wheel. that hoist is a certain accident waiting to happen. please dont attempt to use that!!!!

Not only this, but he painted metal on metal surfaces, and didn't grease anything. If it does in fact work it will destroy itself very quickly.

The part with the brakes where you say is hard at 24:00 is easyer if put all circular pieces together first and then hold the springs open and drop them all in one movement,iv worked repairing and servicing these before ,also they are much easyer to assemble in a vice,and the top hook is stretched so dont put too much weight on this machine,I assume you dont plan on using this

I have a lever chain hoist that will ratchet the chain up when you give it a crank, but when you move the lever back to get a second crank, the chain goes right back to where you started... The chain just goes up and down as you crank the ratchet back and forth... Any ideas?
