It's testament to the skill of the construction that despite seeing it all go on. Hearing the plasticy noises, seeing the hidden lace up shoes and the zipties, once it's all in place the illusion is perfect. You instantly forget the human inside and see only the Predator.

the predator is, i think, the most realistically looking alien in terms of a guy with a suit on. The only thing that I could never buy is his fingers: whenever he pushes those buttons on his forearm, he uses the balls of his fingers not the talons, and that - to me - ruins the whole illusion. If I were the predator and had these strong pointy things on my finger-tips, i would use them to push those buttons.

Yes, they're cheaper made and that's because film studios (assuming they go with practical effects, something rare for today's industry standards) nowadays give FX companies like ADI or SW limited time ( roughly 2, 3 months instead of 6 or 9) and money for pre production, so they have to work as fast as they can to meet executives deadlines. These guys worked with Stan back in the day when Predator first came out, and while his designs are different from the original one, they're pretty good in their own right. The problem lies on the premise of these terrible movies, truth be told (for me) watching a Predator fighting a Xeno is not scary. The concept itself is flawed, you couldn't care less about who'll win cause they're both villans and that's why no competent director would ever touch something like this: if there isn't a good story to carry on the movie, then it just becomes a lame excuse to see two creatures duking it out.

I also believe that aside from KPH really understanding the character, a lot of why the original Predator movies didn't look like a guy in a suit was down to Mctiernan and Hopkins shooting style. They did only close up shots of the predator never doing wide shots of the predator running like they did in later movies. Because to do so it looks like what it is, a guy in a suit.

I think what pisses me off the most about _AVPR_ is the Wolf Predator is arguably the most interesting Predator character we've had in this franchise thus far. In the unrated cut of _AVP,_ it's stated most Predators who come to Earth to hunt are essentially the teenagers; they're the rookies going through a rite of passage into their race's manhood. But Wolf is NO rookie. He's both an elite as well as a veteran. He's a Predator who's most likely seen some shit most Predators couldn't even imagine. Which is why he held his own not only against a whole hive of Xenomorph warriors but against a PredAlien hybrid (which I'm sure were previously nonexistent at least or extremely rare at most). While the PredAlien certainly had the advantage in brute strength, Wolf more than made up for that with his experience. Just imagine how much better the movie would've been if Wolf was solely the main character!

what you're trying to achieve may be on the side of a DIY kind of suit just locate materials and make one is your best shot then just buy a mask sice i would figure that would be the hardest part of a diy or since youre at a party you really dont want a mask just wear dreads and be dressed up people would know from the get go anyway looks like youd need dreds, fish nets, body paint, and take some paper machete possibly or some type of item and paint it to make the necklace etce etc glhf
