I want to be very clear that I love the work you do, and I love this channel. As I’m watching some of the steps I think “ oh, I wouldn’t have done it THAT way”, but what you do always turns out fantastic and the end result is always a great guitar, especially with some of the trashed wrecks you start with. 👍🏼 This definitely is my favorite guitar channel!

I would've definitely taken the opportunity and made the guitar string through like the 58 ones.

The repair was in the tradition of "wabi-sabi", I see? I like how you did it. I like how you left the guitar bare wood because that was a very nice slab of wood to show off. I love Flying V guitars as is, and this was a lovely piece of work, as usual, on your part!

Great restoration! I think this is probably a Top 5 guitar project that you have done. I especially liked the acrylic you ise as a fill in for the saw gap. If i had done this restoration I would have used a glittery gold acrylic for the fill. I tend to make guitars into Jangle Machines so I would have put in a Jangly GFS Dream 180 set of pickups in here (Filtertron meets PAFs) and I would have added a Guyker Trem system in the stop bar spot. But that's just me... making a 1950s Rockabilly meets 1960s Garage Rock guitar all in one! Again, great job amigo!😎👍✨

I think saw dust and wood glue would have been a better choice to fill in the saw line rather than epoxy resin. The saw dust would have hidden it.
@saturnine0002 күн бұрын
I was thinking that too but it would also be a lot harder to force that mixture down into such a thin cut like that with any kind of consistent density. Plus, it looks pretty cool.

@@saturnine000 sandwich or kabob skewers set with wood glue would have been perfect to use for filling in the saw line as well and would have hidden it even better.

Why didn’t you use some wood dust of the same species as the body of the guitar and mix that with epoxy to fill the cut? Alternatively you could’ve used some wood filler in the correct color and then paint on the wood grain? That way the cut would’ve been nearly invisible.

Saludos !

I am not this video uploder, but I’m japanese, so I can read that. This is a simple lacquer material. It is mainly used to dilute or stretch lacquer paint. It was probably a black lacquer that was only roughly painted on top of a polypaint or something, so it could have been wiped off by just diluting it. I think there are lacquer solvents in your country, too

So many people accuse him from getting a good guitar then detroy it, and later make a video of restoring it. I doubt that would be profitable given that some of his restores are expensive guitars (Fender, Gibson, etc.). I don't think he has clarified this (I could be wrong though). Anyway in Japan there quite a lot of used goods jobs (which they refer to them as "junk"), for example "Hard-Off" which has a number or branches all over Japan. Usually the music instrument sections have instruments that are in much less than ideal condition and some cheapo stuffs (good stuffs would go to used music instrument store as they would fetch better price). My guess is he got some of the instruments from this kind of store. Of course only the man himself would know where he got his goods from :). PS. This is how a Hard-Off branch is, notice that many of the instruments (even ones used in the video) are broken kzbin.info/www/bejne/q57EmHRqo7ySoNU.
