Not to be annoying lol but it’s not fair to compare the OG naruto fights to new age anime fights. Back then the sasuke retrieval was the best anime ark at the time because it was super hype and ended with a loss which was unusual back then. It was good for its time for sure. The pacing is definitely my biggest issue when it comes to the pre time skip.

I think a lot of people come to Naruto with the wrong expectations. Naruto is NOT about cool fights with mega powerful character and amazing animation, even though it has some of that. Naruto is about the story and the characters. To me, Naruto is not an action show, it's a drama with some action scenes. Naruto's real power is not the Nine Tails or any of his Jutsu, it's his ability to inspire people and make them believe in something. He doesn't realize this, but he does it in every single arc. He makes Iruka believe in him before the show begins. In the Land of the Waves arc, he makes Inari (the little kid) believe that heroes exist and the village can fight back against Gatou. He convinces Tsunade to become Hokage, even though she had no interest at all. But the tragedy is that he can't convince his best friend to not go down this revenge path. But as traumatic as that failure was, he'll continue to inspire people like this in Shippuden. Even more so. Shippuden has more fights than OG Naruto, all the Akatsuki members are great villains and they are super fun to watch. But Shippuden will continue to be a drama. The first scene in the first episode says it all. The whole first episode really. It sets the tone so well for all the emotions to come.

I dont think expecting a series about ninja people being about ninjas doing ninja stuff is a far fetched expectation,sepcially if we take in to account how its fans always over sell it as the hottest thing to have ever existed,as for the drama aspect,its very hit and miss (the naruto/sasuke stuff gets old,dull and annoying as soon as the retireval arc ends) specially with the horrendous pacing of the anime and story wise you can easily tell whenever kishimoto wrote himself in to a corner and didnt know how to get out of it or what to do with over half of his characters,dont get me wrong Naruto has some genuenly good drama plots here and there,but it definetly leaves a lot to desire,it often raises expectations really high and ends up not delivering.

They bring emotional attachment between each characters. In naruto emotions plays a very important role. I love Jack!! 😅 Thank you for being so understanding of the first half and not letting it ruin your experience at all. I think Cannon is definitely enjoying although still has questions of course. I will still have hopes for Carter until the last episode but only to appreaciate not love Naruto. I do want to add that although i thank Briggs' attempts to explain, i think he sometimes hurts the purpose with his sad tone 😢 or his vague explanations and/or lacks confidence in general. sharingan's power ups depend on emotions the user is feeling, the first time we see sasuke use unlock sharingan was out of desire to protect naruto in the battle against haku, here he hears naruto's words and they get to him, thats why the sharingan developed. and the "kill your best friend" to gain mangekyo is based on this too, bc he would feel great emotions if he killed his best friend

I mean, I sort of understand Carter's lukewarm reaction. Naruto will always have a special place in my heart, but it isn't for everyone. And that's fine. I just get the vibe that Carter rocks more with One Piece and Canon with Naruto. Just a preference thing. Carter was open-minded enough, and if he's not hating it, just semi trying to enjoy Shippuden would be fine. this is where animation peaked, what a wonderfully choreographed fight, no bullshitting, no cheating, no hiding the screen behind all the colors of the rainbow like today, just proper raw animation and a visual feast :) with proper emotional weight too :) it is an interesting conflict, Naruto and Sasuke are similar but not quite the same :) in the end neither of them went for the kill, Sasuke closed his fist before connecting and Naruto went for the forehead :) its good that our guys didnt die since the mission was ultimately a failure :P well no this is not the end of OG Naruto but I get that you are lazy xD especially not watching the final arc will be a big miss but oh well its your experience :) the period you missed was 3 months which is also stated in the manga :) if you wanted to see some more Sakura character development and all the side characters than you needed those episodes :D this show is definitely not for kids your viewpoints are exactly those of a child and as you get older you will appreciate it more, its very much for adults but made so that kids are able to watch it :) you will also understand that the show is paced perfectly, it needed to be slower, you cant squish it into a few episodes it would then fall apart it needs this structure to work, but hopefully you will appreciate it as you go and realize it did exactly what it was supposed to and thats why things later on work so well :) its true you can do a bit of editing with the flashbacks and recaps cause some arent utilized perfectly but other than that this shouldnt be touched at all its as close to perfect as you can get...but its fine I dont expect you to fully understand story structure and build up, set up, directing, dialogue, you obviously missed a lot of the points, you disregarded a lot of stuff you shouldnt have, but you are young it happens, I also see more things now than 15 years ago :) you also absolutely dont udnerstand animation thats quite funny when you talk about it :D

As someone who watched this as it all came out (Yes that includes the like 80 episodes of filler, we were getting jebaited week after week thinking it would get back to cannon only for there to be more filler). The reason for all the filler is the anime caught up to the Manga. So the 80 episodes of filler was to give it breathing room. Also, I'd sell my left kidney to see this twice a week. Just saying.

I totally agree that the hand to hand combat was more impressive than the transformations. This is the reason why I prefer early Naruto to Shippuden. From here on it loses itself in transformations and op bs to the point where they don't even feel like ninjas anymore.

I just want to say about flashbacks, repetitive scenes, recaps and pacing of Naruto Classic and Naruto Shippuden. I swear These 4 flaws never ever bothered me at all... I was sooo dived into the story because it was sooo interesting and sooo good, that these didn't bothered me at all. I didn't even considered these as flaws. 🙌 But I agree that these flaws shouldn't have existed because I heard most of the people didn't like those flaws and it's True because it didn't bother me on the first watch. As I watched for 3 to 4 times, I'm like yeah these were bothering me a lot and I wished that they shouldn't have existed in the first place.

Naruto to me comes off as one of the few series that ends so negatively. The heroes don’t win. No one really gets what they want and nobody is safe. Everyone is hurt and the future is bleak but Naruto. Man Naruto is the only person being optimistic it seems.
