Great review. I just purchased mine yesterday and pleasantly surprised with the quality and ease of use.

Looks great. My question is how could we change the midi values so that drag and drop into the timeline would work with, say, Slate Drums? I can see myself using this step sequencer for ALL drum programming, and in those situations where I need an acoustic kit, just dragging out the midi for use by another drum sample library - with the midi all happily pre-aligned. What do you think? Thanks!

Hello, The MIDI will always be pre-aligned and in sync with your project after dragging and dropping MIDI from Revolution., but you may need to map the Slate Drums MIDI trigger keys to match up with the MIDI trigger keys on Revolution (if this is possible in Slate Drums?). Revolution follows GM standard, so this actually may work well already! Revolution's MIDI trigger keys are: • Bass Drum 1 : C1 • Bass Drum 2 : C2 • Snare Drum 1 : D1• Snare Drum 2 : E1 • Tom 1 : F1 • Tom 2 : G1 • Tom 3 : A1 • Hihat 1 : F#1 • Hihat 2 : G#1 • Hihat 3 : A#1 • Cymbal 1 : C#2 • Cymbal 2 : D#2 • Perc 1 : C#1 • Perc 2 : D#1 So, these are the notes that the exported sequence will have. If you map Slate Drums to respond to these keys, everything will work just like you want :)

Britt Murray you may be looking for a vst midi remapping program. I use one on the incoming midi from my TR8 so that each instrument aligns with each pad in Maschine. the raw midi from the tr-8 does not align without it, and skips pads.

Do you know of any good tutorials for mapping the different sounds to different input channels in Ableton? You mention this briefly in your review, but the interface on Kontakt has changed recently and it no longer has that drop down menu that lets you assign sounds to outputs. I've tried following the Revolution manual but it only gets you part of the way through the process. Thanks.

few questions: 1 does it accept midi velocity input? 2 does it have midi learn function so controls for each drum can be mapped to a controller? 3 does it use round robin or some other means of avoiding a static sound, to replicate the way analog behaves?
@landwirtschaft21166 жыл бұрын
3 yes round robin, roughly 7GB of samples ;) did you found out about question 1 & 2 in the meantime? :-D

is it possible to load other kick, snare, hit-hat etc, sample on this plugin, and further also record the pattern on any DAW?

Marcus, I have just switched to Mac and am experiencing slowness in loading Revolution. I am on an i7 16 GB Macbook Pro. Seem like things should be snappy. Your kits seem to load very quickly. Any suggestions on how to improve the loading speed?

is there also an option to simulate the timing drift of the original machines? because that's part of the appeal of the original machines imo
@wave-alchemy7 жыл бұрын
Yes, there is. There is a timing 'slop' and 'flam' function in the sequencer that does exactly this :)

I've justbought this and cannot find a way of setting the tempo within Revolution - is there a way to do this please?

Click the icon next to the gear towards the top of the Kontakt window (or hit F4) and you'll see the master controls at the top of Kontakt, including tempo (BPM).
