I bought my Cricut Joy 8 months ago and kept thinking it would be complicated so kept putting it off until I had time. Today my Mum asked me to put grandkids names on money boxes so I decided to look up a tutorial and see how complex it was. I watched a couple but the way they explained it sounded too complicated) then I found yours and you explain it so darn well... I got that box out and unpacked it!! 20 mins later I had 2 money boxes with names on them. THANK YOU so very much!! The Joy is very limited in what you can do. If you are going to spend the money get one of the bigger ones. I have been using mine since early 2000's. Yep I own every single Cricut. I use it literally everyday for something. Right now im preparing and designing for my new Chicken Coop for my 29 new babies. There are hundreds of tutorials online. Please anyone reading this get it out of the box and follow along with youTubers. Whatever the machine Type in the Search your machine followed by tutorials or projects. Find someone you want to watch.

I have the cricut expressions 2 and I got it back in 2013. It’s practically brand new. Is it still able to function? I heard maybe a year ago or so that cricut took it out of design space or they stopped updating it. Is that true? I want to keep it and use it if I can

@@valeries8207 yep cartridges only. There is cardztv with Mary she still uses her cartridges. I just had a friend reach out to me wanting my cartridges and machine assured me she had no interest in design space so I sold them all to her. Not that it matters because I have design space subscription and creative fabrica because I literally purchased 2 years for under 100.00. Now my Cameo 4 and my lifetime silhouette studio business edition is sitting because it was frustrating to me to learn so I will be selling that next.

Love my Cricut Joy, it's small am compact which is great because I don't have room for a larger Cricut. Did you know that you can buy compatible products for your Cricut Joy and save money. Loved the projects you did and I have picke up a couple of tips......thank you 🇬🇧

Yes! I'm just discovering that. There's a world of different brands and accessories that are compatible. It seems many people think the TechWrap vinyl is even better that the Cricut brand vinyl.

I’m with @kathysteele3071 I have watched tons of these also and never played around with my cricket as much as I have today watching your video. I’ve made me some stencils for my mixed media using PLAID Simply Stencils material. This was absolutely wonderful as I was able to make my own masks and stencils of like silhouettes of women and men and just lots of cool stuff. Thank you, thank you thank you. Plus, I’m making some lanyards also for my granddaughter who is a schoolteacher.

Really one of THE MOST HELPFUL tutorials for the Cricut Joy I've watched. I bought the Joy over a month ago. Neighbor has one too. Will we both have trouble getting it to update to our Computers. This is a problem that seems to be all too often happening. Neighbors arrived first & I discovered she could add it to her phone as a work around for now. She did but she like me dislikes working via a tiny wee little screen. So I updated to a Surface 8 which is suppose to be very compatible with the JOY and other Cricut machines. Ahhh but not so fast. We are still attempting to get the Surface up and running while my 2 year older Lenova Laptop Windows 10 should be fine it too hasn't been blue tooth connecting. YIKES. Meantime I do not want to loose interest so I've been checking out videos here on KZbin to keep my focus alive. This one certainly helped with that. I found someone who might be able to help us with the problems we are having. We are in a very rural area where 78% of our very large county has NO Cell Service so no doubt this and wifi being a bit iffy at times too is contributing to our little problems. I love the way your mug came out. And I have all the special papers and I have 3 different sets of 4 travel mugs and tumblers in similar colors a kind of metalic pattern of mellow gold, grey, stainless a bit lighter similar to your mug and a kind of muted copper. The shorter tumbler has an interesting texture but with lower smooth space that would work well with a not too large design. And the other two styles are taller and have more smooth features all around without the textured pattern. I've already come up with 5 designs in my head for two of these vessels. Still working on the shorter tumbler. We live in Moose and Grizzly Bear country. No kidding NW MT is home for both species. We haven't seen a Grizzly in our yard but Moose have visited over the years now and again. So I have a 22 year old RV just being renovated and can think of great designs with a few words similar to your penning it through an animal cut out. Also cats do come to mind as almost all our friends and family are CAT people or owned by one or more cats. So the name for my RV is Miss Mini Mo and it would be fun to do different colors across the different color mugs using Miss Mini Mo cut through the Bear, Moose and also an artist has made some great eagle art throughout our area and an Eagle could be carrying a flag with Miss Mini Mo away in their talons. Like I said once those creative juices gets going I'm like just gotta try my hand at these. Weathers cooling down so will have more time indoors to work on the computer and technology glitches surrounding the Cricut Joy. Shouldn't be this difficult. Thanks for your insights and sharing and how to's. It really made it far more easier to grasp than most others I've watched. Top notch...happy crafting and have some JOY with your Joy's everyone. With the name and picture you put on the coffee flask, can this then go into the dishwasher?

On the cricut website it has lots of info. It says that this vinyl is permanent and can go through a dishwasher after it has been allowed to 'set' for a few days. However, I'm not sure how much I would trust that. Personally I will handwash anything I make, just to be safe.

can you print onto the vinyl? Like for example a mushroom that would have different coloured elements? How would you do this?

That type of thing is done by layering the vinyl pieces. So you can have a base image shape and the details can be placed on top in different coloured vinyl. When you create designs in the design space program, it shows you if there are multiple layers. Then those pieces are all cut separately and you layer them up.

I had a similar time with die cutting until we saw an electric one on a craft channel. We bought one and then realised that the machine is only the start, after a while and buying more bits I looked into getting a small hand machine but could not understand how it worked, in the end i took the plunge and what a revelation, it is quicker and much simpler. The large electric one now sits idle under my craft table. I have seen and heard people talk about Cricut but always wondered how I could integrate it with what I already do and thanks to you and this video, I think we shall feel a lot more confident about buying one.
