I haven't studied anything in engineering, and I only went to the University of Melbourne. But from what I found online the University of Melbourne or Monash University are both really great programs in biomedical engineering. What are cool things to do in Melbourne in the winter?

In the winter (June - September), I really enjoyed trying out the coffee scene. Melbourne us known for its coffee! I also enjoyed going out as long as you dress warm for a walk. There is so much to see in the CBD. If you're a tourist, the skydeck is pretty cool to go look at. Let me know if you have any more questions!

For the hostels, I used HostelWorld. For student living, I actually got lucky and moved in with a friend from the hostel. I have a few friends that used gumtree.com or flatmates.com also!

HI Seth, I just got an internship at Melbourne, near the University of Melbourne. As an American how did you like it there? Is it crowded? Noise? Speaking as someone from NYC ! lol
