I’m Autistic myself and I had to be put into the deep end and learn how to drive on the roads. Was blimmen nerve wrecking but proud of myself and now I’m a full license driver and wanting a manual transmission vehicle 😌

I am 37/38 (this summer), and I feel I am ready to take my driving test. (I have practiced over the years). Any suggestions (if you don’t mind me asking.)

William, did you get a car yet?
@Daidoro5 ай бұрын
I too, also need/want to drive a car as well because I have an autism spectrum disorder myself and driving on the road can be distractful with noises like listening music, people yelling and screaming all the time, and, of course, stopping and going can be hard to concentrate to stay on and/or off the road. But now, I think I can do it now. I will definitely be following the rules on the road at all times. Do you people think driving is okay with autism disorder like me?

Hope that every single autistic and people with more autistic traits than normal , can get this training if they want to learn how to drive. Also, I hope the trainers test every single driving rule.
@Plimpert2 жыл бұрын
Every driver should go through extended training like this.
@gabriellalaplace2 жыл бұрын
Wow, I didn't realize other people need this training too. It would be great if this was the initial driving test that needed to be passed , before doing a test on the road.

I'm 23 with Autism as well and took driving lessons but failed my road test for almost crashing then failed my driver's evaluation for hitting a car then was told that I need to take medications in order to resume driving lessons.

For me I do drive a car, I got my driver's license last year. But last August 27, 2022, here in the Philippines, I got involved in a car accident. I did not even see the taxi coming from my right. I did hit the taxi by accident.

as someone with ASD, stop being an SJW. no one cares if you say autism or person with autism. it's the same thing. same as autistic.. and btw high or low functioning is real.

@@mellissamercado7904 You're wrong. Over 90% of Autistics prefer the term "Autistic Person". Yet Neurotypicals repeatedly insist that we should use "with autism" to disassociate ourselves from our personalities. Because they want to keep pushing cure language. And BTW the whole "Anti-SJW" movement is basically a just a platform for Cis straight able bodied white men to boast their superiority.

@@mellissamercado7904 When is it low and when is it high functioning autism? What's the tipping point? I'm also autistic btw. I agree, but I find categorizing low and high autism vague. I think there is also a really complex spectrum on how well you function and functioning differently isn't low functioning per se
