So important...I've been riding BMX for 30 years, several blackout concussions and hundreds of hard Street landings , its a super fun sport, BUT hidden consequences....e.g...Dave Mirra, Colin Winkleman ...RIP...when we land hard from height I believe it will cause the same brain damage, even if you don't blackout and feel OK in the short term. I suffer with depression, anxiety, rage fits and apathy... now I think I know why GF.

Hey buddy, have you sought information from your doctor? I have recently found out about CTE. I am going to my doctor soon to speak about it. I suffer similar symptoms you describe along with memory problems. 30 years old, have had many concussions.

I won't even spar anymore. Its not worth it. I don't even want to talk to people. Annunciation is exhausting. Peoples personalities are exhausting. Can't be around too many people, overwhelming and exhausting. If it wasn't for all the pressure and ringing it would be pretty peaceful. Be good to your brains.

It’s not just that the brain shrinks, but plaques build up in the brain that block flow to the cells and actively kill cells at an accelerated and exponential rate.

I played real deal hardcore football age 7 to 18 every year. I played linebacker (MLB) and Defensive End. Legit was a Luke Kuechley type player in high school. Didn’t play JV cause I was too good. I’ve had so many concussions it’s impossible to tell how many but definitely north of 15-20 mild concussions from as best as I can possibly remember (not great), and 5-10 serious concussions. Was ambulanced off the field by paramedics my sophomore year with a major closed head injury on the field and they shut down the game half way through the 4th quarter after it happened. Led to the discovery of brain lesions all over my frontal lobe. Literally says in my medical records that 1-2 of the many “neoplasms” or lesions couldn’t be verified as any one type of lesion or tumor as it presented on the brain images atypical to most astrocytomas, angiomas, etc. My dad threw a fit as to no biopsy because he wanted me back on the field. He pressured and pressed my neurologist to certify me to play again even though I didn’t want to. My neurologist wasn’t a sports fan and CTE wasn’t really being talked about in 2007 so I guess she was like screw it I don’t want to take away his potential career in the NFL as that was what my dad was on about. He forced me to play football and I quit many times because I told him I’m always seeing stars and was having abnormal headaches. He joked it off and teased me relentlessly to play because it made him look good as he really and truly lived vicariously through me and I HATED that. It was also definitely creepy at times because his mentality was so immature and egotistical. I was definitely psychologically abused by him and also by other members in my family too unfortunately. Only my grandmothers and mom took to my defense. After my TBI I came back and balled out without even trying or putting in my best effort. My grades suffered from football and the demands of it being in a top national district for recruiting and performance (Tampa FL). I went to a D3 school cause of my grades in high school and before I left for training camp I broke my ankle pretty gruesomely in a basketball game in the summer before college started. I decided not to play football after that gruesome injury and my dad went bat shit crazy cause that meant he couldn’t talk about football and me 24/7. He didn’t even care that I couldn’t walk for 6-8 months after my injury. He tried to talk me out of having ankle surgery to play football even though I couldn’t support my weight on my ankle. He was an absolute nightmare and still is sometimes. My worst brain symptoms are: headaches (1-2 per week on average since 2007), impulsivity, ADD (mild-bad if not treated), spaced out, day dreaming on a loop, zoning out during conversation, slowed motor activity, weird obsessions, transitory mood problems, PTSD (from an unrelated witnessing of my uncles suicide), major depression, abnormal thoughts about life, morning confusion and horrible mental fog, risky and sometimes poor judgment on impulse, horrible forgetfulness, definitely short term memory issues, but my long term memory performs way better for some reason. There are some other symptoms too I didn’t mention.

Damn I play high school football right now I’m trying to go to the NFL no I said they’re definitely taking precautions to fix this problem and we were skullcaps now but yeah my dad didn’t even let me play tackle football until I was about 13 and in the time I’ve played I’ve never had a concussion or dinged although I did have one hit where I kind of came home to him with one guy although it felt like I hit my face on a pillow oh yeah and I do remember for some reason I don’t know why I did this but instead of putting my shoulder down I ran straight up and got put on my head so I can say I did get dinged onced But definitely nowhere near you

I played sports all through childhood and college, had major falls as a child and several more bad concussions in HS and college. Not sitting long enough I now see the repercussions..I'm beyond nervous that I have CTE, and it's why I'm here watching this video. I felt failed by the traditional system getting a few scans, but am looking for the right Dr's. I've had over 30 concussions and subconcussions, and when I was around my 24 mark I saw a neurologist that didn't comprehend anything that I shared with him. Didn't feel seen or heard, felt dismissed. Then I found integrative health and it began to change my life in the other direction out of the depths of the hole. As I learned, I began allowing myself proper healing time and support. I have had multiple concussions again this year from barely any head whiplash and a light hit and it's enough to give me a concussion how. I'm not healing the same, veryyyy slow, and the last one was the final straw for me. Finally changing my role within my company and relinquishing aspects I know I should no longer do (I am a dog trainer and we providing ongoing care support). Has been sad but a "no brainer" to FINALLY I refuse to believe there is no cure and that there aren't things we cannot do to mitigate our risks and at the very least slow the damage, as well as support and grow new brain cells. I've felt the change before, and I have this deep knowing that SOMETHING can be done to at the bare minimum slow it down.. If you're reading, things I did that brought me in the right direction. Zero alcohol, caffeine, gluten/wheat/barley/rice (and thats in food and personal care products and household products), dairy, no corn, nightshade vegetables, seed oils, fake ingredients, as much of whole foods as possible. Organic as much as possible + clean food in bowl of water an 1 T of baking soda, soak for 20 mins, rinse and you just killed 99% of pesticides instead of the pesticides harming us. Use stainless steel pans or cast iron. The rest of them leak toxic chemicals into your food. Use un-bleached wax or parchment paper to cook in oven instead of aluminum foil, TOXIC AF! Use metal or wood spatulas instead of plastic in the kitchen. Switched ALL smells from cleaner, scents from candles switched from shit to coconut or soy candles, every consumable item you can think of in my house to be the natural stuff. Toothpaste, soaps, laundry, soaps, dishes, sheets, paper-towels, toilet paper, etc etc. Believe it or not there is so much CRAP loaded in these items if you don't buy the right brand. Disrupting our bodies with every wipe of the tush, and teeth brushing. Avoid plastic at all costs and switch to glass for every item you buy and store your food in, don't use the microwave, mitigate your exposure to EMF's in small ways, throw away your AirPods asap. Clothing, and furniture is the area I am in now slowly changing out all the materials in my closet to non hormone disrupting materials. It's hard to be perfect, but I believe its worth making all the changes within our power so we can set up natural habits for the longterm, and have a chance to live our full lives. much love

We’ve got to make football age 18, and we’ve got to divorce it from educational institutions. Or, I guess we can be like tobacco executives . . . The evidence is plenty strong already. And this fellow is saying it’s total number of hits to the head, which I’ve also heard from other sources. Which means, Game Over. If we’re going to be at all concerned about the health of other people, including those under age 18, we’ve got to start taking action. Please understand, I grew up loving football. I grew up with the Dallas Cowboys and Roger Staubach, Robert Newhouse, Tony Dorsett, Drew Pearson, Preston Pearson (not related!), Tony Hill, Golden Richards, Butch Johnson. And on defense, Harvey Martin, Randy White, Ed “Too Tall” Jones, D.D. Lewis, Thomas “Hollywood” Henderson, Bob Breunig, Cliff “Captain Crash” Harris, and Charlie Waters. And there are shades of Bruce Lee saying My Enemy, Myself, because . . . On the Pittsburgh side we have- Terry Bradshaw, Franco Harris, Rocky Blier, Lynn Swann, John Stallworth. And the Steeler defense of course- “Mean” Joe Greene, L.C. Greenwood, Jack Ham, Jack Lambert, Mel Blount, Mike Wagner, Tony Dungy, Donnie Shell. I’m including this snapshot to show, Yes, I was a huge fan. And when the two teams met for Super Bowl XIII on Jan. 21, 1979, it was sweet indeed! We’ve got to gracefully phase out high school football. Don’t water it down, for people will just hate that. Instead, go with two seasons of basketball, Fall and Spring, and two seasons of baseball. Someone might say, Well, basketball has the occasional concussion, too, even baseball does. But neither has the steady diet of hits to the head, and this is and/or should be our deciding factor. There might be some hope for rugby in which tackling is from the back in a highly stylized fashion. Wish the facts were better, but we’ve got to face current reality. 🦁

Ex Military but last year had a major head blow in the night loosing enough blood to cover the bedroom floor like a murder scene. This caused Post Concussion Syndrome but after 13 months it has degenerated and I have Stage 3 CTE by definition. After last March I was in July a victim of a weapon attack by a Psychotic ex Israeli Army man for talking bad of my mother and me defending her honour. I am an ex Tae Kwon Do English Regional medalist in Y2K I am just 35.

I think your okay man. It all depends. if you feel like your brain had enough time in between concussions and that you didn’t play long enough then your okay. I mean I’m sure I have brain damage I played 4 years of football when I was a kid my last year I rode the bench but I’m sure I have brain damage just from that. I mean everyone who’s played contact sports probably does. But I highly doubt that you will develop cte. NFL and hockey players get it because they go way past there limit when they play all throughout there lives. By the time they reach the nfl or the nhl they’ve already taken so many hits playing against strong athletes in college or high school that it’s just totally over bored.

It depends in their style and type of training, CTE in boxing is mostly caused due to constant hard sparring, if they do not do that and instead focus on light/mid and technical spareing and have a style that focuses in defense the chance of them developing CTE is lower than those who do not. There's also the factor of genetic predisposition, you know how some seem to have "glass chins" or "granite chins" so some boxers will be more predisposed to CTE than others
