I've found that using copics for non art purposes isn't a good idea. The fineliner is intended for linearting and being pushed or pulled with curves and lines, not for the constant pressure and the skipping around of handwriting. Also, using it on regular paper instead of copic or maker paper is known to affect the nib, which can cause skipping. 😊 Just FYI! I love them for art purposes!

It was very interesting to see your critique of the Micron pens, coming from an artist who lines with those pens ALL THE TIME. It was fun to hear what you thought of them, I had a set of 5 for a whole year and a half and only the 0.3 ever started to run out so I never had any issues with them running out. By far my favourite fineliners I've used are the Steadler Fineliners. I got them yesterday and I already love them. I feel like I have so much control when doing lineart on my drawings and I love the nib size. I would give these a 9/10 For the Sakura Micron pens, I've had 2 and returned one because the ink wasn't coming out! They do have good ink quality but the one I have right now is already dead. They get a 6/10 in my book. Then there are Faber Castells fineliners, this is the same situation as the Microns. First off, they are VERY EXPENSIVE! One fineliner costs $7.00 in Canada and honestly, I font think they are worth that. These pens have a nice ink quality, but they run out very fast, even with the ones I bought in a package and did not handpick them. The nib is very nice though, it has a very strong porous point nib that will not wilt through time. Overall, I would give these a 7/10 These are the opinions of an artist who has been drawing for 1 1/2 years so far.

Thanks for making this comparison for us! I started in the fine liner world with Stabilos, and 10+ yrs later, they are still my favorite. In the beginning the tips would flatten, but the problem was not the liners, but with the way I was pressing them against the paper. After I learned how to use them correctly, I've never had another flat tip again. I recently started using Schneider Line-Ups and LePen and they are both very good products.

I think that just like you said the issue with fineliners is that people use them for casual writing but they're not really made for that. Long straight felt tips like the ones on the microns and stabilo 88 are meant to perform on a straight angle since they are originally conceived for technichal drawing, where lines of the same width along your proyect is a must, while when you are writing you naturally use your pens on an angle. I see that the Point 88 you got are the mini version, so that might be an added negative point to them because you don't have enough grip to hold it comfortably.

You might just need more fined tips, my favorite ones that don't bleed are the Maped graph peps- www.ebay.com/itm/391621516475?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT They are cheap but still good quality and they don't bleed for me. If they still do you can try to get slightly thicker paper. Just my recommendation.

Stabilo pens are my childhood and I still use them to this day! For me I normally only use the black, green and some of the blues. I only use the other colours for underlining since I don't like really bright and neon colours like highlighters and the Stabilo pens are just right for me! But I think that it's nice to share people's opinions and see if we can relate and have the same pros and cons!

To tell the truth I want to always try Staedtler triplus fine liners! And the price makes it expensive, other than the Stabilo price looks kind of cheaper. Overall I would definitely want to get myself Staedtler triplus fine-liners for the first time.

another great one is the pilot g-tec c4. I've been using them for around a year and they're perfect for me. They don't bleed through at all, are quick drying and left handed friendly, write beautifully in a similar payoff to muji pens and are very comfortable to write with. The only problem is that occasionally there is inconsistency in the ink and you have to egg it on a bit to get it to run and they are relatively expensive, £3 a pen.

i bought stabilo last year because i heard so so so many reviews about them being durable and NEVER running out of ink. however by the end of the school year only a small handful still worked! on top of that, if you if so much DROP a stabilo pen while it's open (quite often happens since the design is kinda round) the tip SHATTERS it was really heartbreaking but i owe it to my stabilos that i took so many great notes for all my AP's last year! defo gonna check out the stradtlers. thank you for the video!

Start early! Study your prefixes+ suffixes. It'll come in handy when you encounter words you don't know. Learn how to read faster, considering you have little time. Most importantly, PRACTICE! Take many practice tests. Act as if you are actually taking it, so time yourself. Lastly, stay positive(:

The only problem I (and my classmate) had with the Papermate Flair Fineliners is that the black one ran out of ink within two months for both of us, which could partially be because we used that color every day at school. On top of that, they tend to bleed A LOT for me, so I'm probably not going to buy them again. But other than that, I really enjoyed them! The color is great on them before they run out.

i personally love the staedtler pigment liners (i use the 0.3 size), because it has minimal bleeding and you can write at an angle. the downsides are that they're $$$ (like $2 for one) and the tips flatten really quickly.

I have a love hate relationship with fineliners, they're perfect, they're colorful and all, but I just don't like how they feel when I write with them. I'm more of a gel pen person, and also a fanboy of Pilot brand pens not only because they're Japanese made pens, but they're also high quality; last long, no skipping etc. Whenever I write with a gel pen, such as a Pilot Precise V5 or a Pilot Juice / Juice Up Pen, it would feel smooth. But with fineliners, it would feel rough and scratchy (according to my experiences writing with fineliners for the past 2 years). During my Amazon Back-to-School shopping session, I brought the Stabilo pens, and right when I started writing with them I instantly regretted spending $11 on them. Regardless if I wrote in a light or medium or heavy pressure, the ink tends to ghost and sometimes bleed through, especially on the five star bleed resistant papers, the MUJI notebook papers (which are high quality), and the Kokuyo loose leafs (high quality as well). Yeah thanks to these Stabilo fineliners, my AP Psych notebook looks like a mess 🙃. I should've brought Staedler fineliners instead or the Pilot Juice pens and call it a day. TDLR: Fineliners are probably not for me, and I regretted buying the Stabilo pens.

Sakura Pigma Microns are my favorite by far. I use them for my lineart. They do run out really fast (my 08 size was dry in less than a month) but oh god they are worth it

I usually never comment on videos, but I've been interested in fine liners recently. Steadtler pens are great, but if you guys are looking for the perfect writing tool for annotating books, please try the Pigma Micron 01 or 005. They don't bleed through the page and (if you have a light hand) write so well in the small margins. If you write with a lot of pressure, I don't recommend the 005. They are really helpful with my summer reading. :)

I've had problems as well with stabilos, but then I bought one called Stabilo PointVisco which is 0,5mm and it's not as fine but they are really good and I have then since 2014 and all are still working, so I highly recommend them...

the only problem I have with staedler fineliners is that I have to be very careful with them. when I was in school I had to repurchase the red so many times because of other people smashing it and breaking the fibers of the tip when borrowing it, so i always ended up with double lines or the tip looking like a brush and finally the ink would stop flowing. So I REALLY dont recommend them for VERY heavy handed people.

I've found the Staedtler pigment liners ghost less than the triplus fineliners. It's more along the lines of the .2 mm Sakura micron that I have from a really old set. Since its kind of a mix between your top 2, thought if you hadn't tried it, you might like it.

I found these prismacolor fineliners at walmart and they are perfect for lefties (it's hard for me to find good pens bc I am one)! They do smear on some papers and bleed through isn't too bad in my moleskine! For the most part they're good and I recommend them! Love your videos btw! :-)

My favorite pen is the Staedtler Finalizers as well! I saw them on your tumblr account a while ago and new instantly that I had to have them. I went out and bought the ten pack, and I fell in love with the pen. I'm going off to college this fall, and I treated myself for a job well done in high school by getting the 36 Brilliant Colors pack on Amazon. I am not disappointed! (I paid around $23, I believe.)

Just so you know, the pigma micron pens aren't designed for you to write with them. They are meant for drawing lines and be used perpendicularly to the paper with not a lot of pressure applied. That might be why they run out of ink faster…

OMG you are the first one I know to admit the flatten out problem with 0.88 stabilo. I have these in 5 colors and the black and blue ones aren't working smoothly after only a month of usage. I loved staedtler ones but they're bit expensive.

I rlly like the staedtler liners but I got them around late december and the red and yellow have already practically died (I got a twelve pack) and the black is on its way

In my personal experience, the Staedler Triplus Fineliners (although I love them to pieces) do flatten in the angle that I write in, which is kind of a pain but I love them nonetheless. :)

I don't like the hexagonal grip either. The "corners" are kind of hard against the fingers.

Since this video, there has been some talk of the new Sharpie Art Pens. /have you tried thyem or compared them to the other pens in this video?
