In my opinion the best transfer from Budapest to Debrecen is train 🚄. If you don't want to go with bus to the centre of Budapest there is a station near the airport, it's called "FERIHEGY". From this station you can go straight to Debrecen and back if you need. The length of the train trip is 2 - 2,5 hours, but you can study/rest/read on the train and most of the time they add a plus car to the train where you can buy food. I live next to Budapest and I always use this option if I come home or go back to the uni, because this is the fastest and cheapest :)

Very helpful, about the residence permit if you are a new student, you don’t have to worry about that because you already done that all you have to do is wait for your permanent residence permit after your arrival.

Yes, they give some particular amount to cover the accommodation for those that pefer to live outside the campus but it is usually not enough to cover everything.

Yes, it is possible to come with your family as long as their visa gets approved. It is also possible to get 2 bedroom family apartment for rent before coming but I will advise you to try to get someone who is already in Hungary involved, so they can help you check the place before finalizing any form of payment with any house owner or agent.

Hey Tayne, I will advise you to go for Budapest if you are to choose between the 2 cities because it’s the capital and the largest city in Hungary, and it has more job opportunities for students compared to Debrecen, I think Debrecen is more student-friendly and you get to meet a lot of international students, so both cities are good.
