Before you break the jar, try reaching in with a fork or chopstick to loosen the soil so you can dump it out... if you can get enough out that will give roots room to move... also, a few damaged roots probably won't kill the plant.

I know that Wildfern trained the Philodendron Sp Columbia silver or the el choco red (don't remember exactly) to climb and it worked 👌

Break the jar definitely a video ❤❤❤

I've done that multiple times in terms of getting my plants stuck. I soak the plant in a bucket, then use a chopstick and poke at the dirt, especially around the edge. I've never had to break a jar or pot doing it this way.

I love these updates, we get to see plants that you don't feature as frequently. I added a little baby Red Anderson Philodendron to my family recently. It's just a little pot, I'm in love with how adorable it is. I love starting with babies and seeing how they mature.

I know what you mean by someone saying "oh it's a leaf" 😅 I show my kids a plant that has a new leaf that I have not been able to grow before and they're like oh yeah that's pretty. 😂 my alocasias are putting out new leaves. 😮 I'm speechless. They've been here since July.

that's cool you managed to get those seeds. I'm keen to know how this grows as a house plant cause I also heard it's tricky. I love these kinds of videos!

I've got my first case of thrips, Luckily it's inside my prop/baby plant box so they are already isolated. I took them all to the shower and gave them all a good wash down then sprayed with neem oil and horticultural soap so hopefully I can get in control of them. Your majestic is so beautiful, it's one that is really high up on my wishlist. ☺

Love to see how the seeds come up. It’s a crazy plant. I so want that round cactus. I did the paint with baking soda on a pot, loved it,but didn’t put tree fern fiber in it,I was thinking of adding sand.💚🌿🪴

I'm like anthuriums a lot and liking your content. I'm looking forward to your anthurium revile. I have just attempted my first hybrid of a Jungle Giant x Luxurians with a Doc Block F2. I've been getting a lot of assistance from a local guy that has done a lot of this, actually is a greenhouse operations guy. Texas/USA.

Hi lovely plant community, first of all thanks Claire for sharing all the wonderful updates about your collection with us💜 I always love to watch your videos. But now I’m asking for some advice from semihydro experts: I have some trouble with a few plants in lechuza pon. There is mold forming just on the upper layer. Does anyone experience the same? Any tips and tricks how to get rid off the mold? I already took the plants out, boiled the lechuza, put them back in and there is mold again. The plants seem to be happy with healthy roods and everything but I’m still concerned about mold in general. Thanks for helping out🧡

A lot of times the only reason plants are rare is because they’re almost always sold out I finally got my hands on a pink flamingo crypt after almost 2 years of trying to find one online It’s growing pretty slow right now but it’s healthy The leaves are brown when they first pop up and turn pink as they mature You can grow them above water or underwater I have mine underwater The biggest thing that sucks about crypts in general is crypt melt When you move them all the leaves die off but the plant itself isn’t actually dead The only species of crypt in my experience that doesn’t get crypt melt is the green crypt I’ve never had the leaves die off moving it

I occurs to me that the tip of your Delta Force may be reacting to touching the humidity cup you've got on top. In my humidity box, I've had that happen when leaves touch wet walls... You've probably taken care of it already but I thought I'd mention it. I have to say I'm dying for one of those welwitschia mirabilis plants! I'll be following your seed journey with great interest! 💚

I have a different type of elephant ear! I live in the US (zone 9ish) and it was given to me in clay rather than soil and I’ve kept it in clay ever since (besides adding a tiny amount of regular soil bc I was scared it would die lol). I keep it outside nearly year round and water maybe once a week or twice a month (aside from regular humidity and dew drops from my roof) and it’s been growing very well!! It grows very fast too!

Love these updates. Although they do make me want to buy more plants 🤣. I'm currently having issues with all my alocasias in one room. They have weird mottling on the leaves. There are NO pests, but I've treated with neem. But yeah, it's almost like they've got pink variegation (on cuprea, polly, pink princess) and yellow (on zebrina and micholitziana). Wondering now if it's fungal too. All bar the cuprea are in semi-hydro. Cuprea is just in a universal houseplant mix. I wondered if it was because I tried a new fertilizer a few weeks ago. But it's only those Alocasia (all my other plants - begonia, ficus, adonansii, thicker leaved alocasia ie ninja, black velvet, nebula, even my calathea pinstripe and calathea orbifolia are okay. It's very strange. On the upside, my spider plants are going CRAZY with baby plants, and my begonias (I blame you for these - i hated them 6 months ago)cuttings are doing great and are well rooted too.

Hey there! I have many Xanthosoma, Colocasia and Alocasia here in the U.S. The Xantho will grow more like a colocasia than an alocasia…higher light and never dry. It will do splendidly in your inorganic media of choice. I have them growing in everything from pond bog filters (leca/lava mix) to diy “pon” in self watering and they do great. They hate the cold and that is about the only thing I’ve witnessed send them into dormancy. You’ll do great with it!

I don’t care for shorts either really. They’re mostly snippets from a longer form video that Ive already seen. If it’s truly a separate topic I don’t mind, but I watch the plant tubers videos I subscribe to unless they’re an hour long or longer. 30 minutes is about my limit for a video. I can’t get over how fast your begonia is growing!!

I‘m so jealous of your bisma silver. I‘m looking for one since forever but all I can find is the normal bisma which just does not tickle that extra exitment for me as the silver does. It Must be an amazing alocasia to grow. I have the platium here and It’s by far the easiest growing alocasia in my collection. Got it this year in febuary with 5 leafs an now she has 17. She Never had pests, never made trouble. Simple just love her for how easy going and rewarding she is.

I had aphids on one of my Calathea. Found them two days ago and completely freaked bc that was my first pest experience in my collection and at first nothing on google matched 😱 then I was pretty chill bc they seem to be the easiest pest 😂 Other than that everything is still growing except for my peperomia hope… it looses a lot of leaves and they curl up before falling off 😓 it gets a lot of light, humidity is always at 70% in my flat and it is potted in a very chunky mix with drainage so I don’t know what I’m doing wrong 🫠

17:00 An idea for your next project... try to grow a crawler just below the ceiling. It will have loads of space to crawl around the room. Question is... would it work? Upside down? 🤔 Well, on the other hand, you probably don't have much space there either as that is already occupied by your hanging plants 🤣 I want to train my monstera adansonii to grow around my bathroom. Currently, it is still few leaves away from the ceiling. Will see in about a year time how good a trainer am I.

When anthurium is crossed with itself, it does not mean it is pure, it is still a hybrid. Only a propagation, a clone of the plant can be considered a pure. The reason for this is that self polinated seed grow anthuriums with genetic variations, and each seedling can look very different from others and its parent.

If you want something a bit different, Have you ever heard of Argyreia nervosa (Hawaiian baby woodrows) I have taken the seeds a few times as a Psychedelic, but could never get them to germinate. Beautiful flower, and can be a house plant. Just a suggestion.

Enjoying October updates, some help if you or anyone has any thoughts, I was really excited to see my Alocasia Jacklyn start to give me new growth but now it looks like an inflow and not a leaf? Im no expert but any thoughts appreciated - do i chop it off or let it grow? any pics of your AJ with an inflow? Also my portadora is yellowing on the edges on 2 out of her 3 leaves, i found thrips on her a few weeks ago but treated and have been watching her just wiped her down and used DEarth but is this a thing for lower light time of year?
