With gambling sites sponsoring major sports, does anyone believe these performances are still legitimate?

Great question. I also question this at times. It's like the leagues now control how these players perform.

@Universal_History_Facts I used to love any form of North American football. At this point, I can barely stomach watching an NFL game.

@michaelmartz8426 The teams are paying them. So if Garrit Cole has 250 million guaranteed what would he ask to blow a game? A billion?

aaah..... actually..... some one told me "The 1919 Black Sox Scandal" happened over a hundred years ago! is this right!!?! it wasn't a World Series that took place two or three World Serieses ago, or even the last time Cincinnati played in a World Series!!?! maybe we should talk more about Pete Rose (just so we don't let him into the Hall of Fame)! I did read, though, after Rose was released from prison, that he was such a model prisoner, that they retired his number.

After this, the ONE thing players could not do was gamble on the teams. You could be an alcoholic (and many were), a drug addict, a thief, anything! Just don't gamble on games. Everybody knew this. But apparently, some people thought they were so good, they were above the rules. I'm looking at the late Pete Rose.

Yea, the risk is not worth it. If you look at the recent NBA example of Johntay Porter, he was making more money just being on the bench. The fact that he jeopardized his career for only a few extra thousand dollars is just not worth it.

Every one of those players should have their names cleared, how about the frigging owners who all should’ve been thrown in jail for what they were doing to the game of baseball or all sports teams owners, they all colluded to basically rip all the players off. I have no problem with what those guys did. Comiskey was a horrible person and Owner. He had the best team in baseball and they were the worst paid and even back in those days he was probably still making millions of dollars off those guys

Joe Jackson should be in the Hall of Fame. He was great before all this happened. And did get paid for it. 😢And make a little bit of money. Because the Owners don't want to pay up.

Joe Jackson did not play bad he played just as good as he always did that was the tragedy of the story is that Joe Jackson took the blame even though he didn't have anything to do with it. Joe Jackson was innocent he had never talked to the people who are rigging it he wasn't a part of it but yet when it came time to kick people out they kicked him out too even though he was innocent. That's the tragedy of the story is that Joe Jackson did not do anything wrong.

So was Buck Weaver.
@joethaler7921
@joethaler7921 18 күн бұрын
Jackson was reported to have received a bribe and kept the money. Weaver, though he refused to tank the WS, still had knowledge of the fix. To Judge Landis’s way of thinking, not reporting knowledge of the fix made Weaver and Jackson complicit in the fix. That’s logic that is hard to argue with. It was a tragedy for all parties. There were no winners. The White Sox were in the wilderness for 40 years, 1959. Sounds sorta Biblical. They didn’t win a WS until 2005, their first since 1917.

I'd sooner watch these guys, even as cheats, rather than today's players. The game has changed so much, ballparks now becoming amusement parks and restaurants, rule changes to accommodate short attention spans, coddled players with pitch counts limited to five innings, tops. Break a nail, and out for the season. Unrelateable King's ransom salaries, ticket prices requiring taking out a second mortgage, with nearly every seat commanding a premium (if you're close enough to see the infield, that's extra), pay tv and radio, double header? Pay again to see the second game. Loved baseball when I was a kid, but now it's rare to see a kid even playing the game.

It would be helpful to turn off the music so that I can hear your message, you are excluding a large segment of hearing-impaired viewers. Very offensive to us.
@Universal_History_Facts
@Universal_History_Facts 14 күн бұрын
To be clear, that is not intentional. Sorry you are having a hard time. The music is low as possible to allow for you to hear the narrator which is the more important part. Please do not assume we are "purposely" trying to make things difficult. We cater to everyone and not just one specific group. Whether hearing impaired or not. The music adds to the video as I don't know of any KZbin video that does NOT have some kind of music. But to turn it off would be catering to a small group as opposed to our entire audience.

Five minutes into the video I couldn't continue. Too much repetition, music too loud, Artificial Ignorance voice saying 'point' when mentioning batting averages and too much repetition (that I did deliberately). Good Luck with your next video.

aaah.... actually.... Rose had his chance and chances to be re-instated. after his banishment from MLB, part of the terms of his argument stated he could re-apply for instatement, which he did. it was rejected again. PLUS, for nine years after his banishment from MLB, he refuted the charges that he bet on Major League Baseball. he continued his gambling, and ran up soooh much debt, that he sold all his trophies and awards and replaced them with counterfeits. this still did not relieve his debt, so he sold illegal drugs. when caught, this sent him to prison. after his release, he continued to apply for re-instatement at the appointed times. when a new more leanient Commissioner was elected, Rose re-appled for re-instatement. EVERYONE THOUGHT Rose WAS GOING TO BE RE-INSTATED! but when Rose was asked if he still bet on baseball, he said, "Yes I do." then the Commissioner said, "Mr Rose, I don't think you realize the seriousness of the charges against you." and Pete Rose never again applied for re-instatement. all Pete Rose had to do was just say, "No" and he would have been re-instated, AND easily would have been elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame. instead, he took 'the low road', and is forever banished from baseball.

This video just repeats the same lies from 8 Men Out. Eddie Cicotte was not benched to stop him from getting 30 wins, he had 2 starts after he got his 29th win and was bombed in one start and pulled early from the other. It takes 1 minute to look up facts, its just laziness.
