Also, single rickhouse is literally the same as single barrel, except it's less exclusive. Forget that and go for the RRSiB

This seems to be on par with the reactions I have seen elsewhere for the RR Single Rickhouse, so thanks as always for helping me fight the FOMO. The only place I have seen it would only sell it as a part of a 6-bottle bundle with other RR standard bottles for $500, so I'm glad I passed on that one. Like someone else mentioned, for that kind of price, I need to be absolutely blown away to want to buy it. I'll stick to the RR Special Reserve releases (including the Camp Nelson one I got earlier this year) and save my money.

I don't really understand the price jump between the Russell's Reserve 13 and the Single Rickhouse. I understand both are about the same on the secondary, but RR13's retail price was so much lower and most people prefer it over the Rickhouse. Either way, I'll probably never get my hands on either of the bottles so I'll just have to trust you guys. Thanks for the video and cheers!

We see both sides of the coin. Sometimes we do have a pour before. Other times we want to limit consumption, we realize that most folks don't do "warm up pours" in their everyday life either, and if something is truly special then it should stand out as such regardless. That said, even if we don't do a warm up pour, we usually find that most of the great pours come around with just a couple of sips once we acclimate.

Sweet, strong, apple, and cherry - I'm guessing a Beam product. Nope, wrong...but given how WT products are described this doesn't surprise me. But the price sure does! Looked this product up and I didn't see an age statement but it does say "The inaugural release, Russell’s Reserve Single Rickhouse from Camp Nelson C is bottled from a small batch of just 72 barrels. Aged on the optimal center cut floors 3 and 4, bottled at 112.4 barrel proof, and non-chill filtered, this rich and decadent bourbon delivers a rich, unexpected blend of flavors that captures the essence and spirit of its roots. Camp Nelson C has since been dismantled - making this unique bottling truly one of a kind." Inaugural but apparently unrepeatable. This falls into a "don't bother" category for me because you drop a bunch of money on something that won't be remade...sounds like too much hype..Party on Josh Party on Erin!

Josh, I love you man, but that should be a hard pass. That bottle is just a glorified version of a barrel pick at a price that goes well beyond what even sought after barrel picks would charge. Every distillery and their moon shiny grandmother has jumped on the "let's make a ton of limited releases and market them all as upscale products with prices to match." It started with the NDP's for a variety of reasons and it's been co-opted by the distillers. Paraphrasing you to say, "I get the price tag because of rarity" is just buying into a manufactured exclusivity. Distillers and NDP's alike can walk into a rick house, climb some stairs, look down the left side and declare that THOSE barrels are living a unique micro-climate life and therefore rare because 'reasons'. The wider public is being played for lacking the experience to understand what a $100+ bottle should taste like. All the industry producers have turned into speculators, tranching their inventory like a 2007 Wall Street Investment Company. Man, I just went on a rant. Sorry about that. You two are some of my favorite whiskytubers and that hasn't changed at all. If my diatribe missed the mark because this isn't part of your mission statement, I completely apologize. Just got a little heated there.

No, you’re not wrong at all. It’s a very good point. If we had a bottle of this we’d love to put it up against some good picks and see just how it shook out. There’s no way around the pricing being a big disappointment on this one though, and it certainly didn’t wow for the cost either.

Wow! That's a hard pass for me at that price and this is coming from a person that has shelled out some money on whiskey due to FOMO. Not this time. At some point I have to stop telling myself that it would be a nice bottle to have just because of what it is. That is a hard feeling to get over especially when you have a whiskey review channel.

It could be the bottle however the price is a no go for me. I’ll stick with rare breed it has been good with every bottle that I’ve had and it’s like 48 bucks.

Sounds like the only thing that is off putting is the price. For $250, it should be a memorable bottle that you would want to replace.
