I've been a chef for 20 years, including many years making pizza of all sorts in various businesses, and I've never heard of a white clam pizza. Sal is just insane for thinking that since he worked at one place which served it means that every pizzeria has white clam pizzas, that's like me saying the olive garden will serve homemade rosemary bread loaves instead of their usual breadsticks just because my experience in that other Italian restaurant i worked in was known for making rosemary bread. Good goth he's insufferable when he doesn't want to admit that he's wrong🤣

It is definitely a regional thing even within the North East so idk why he was so dead set on it being ubiquitous.
