A little late but it actually makes sense. Part of the domination of the Zerg is through this hierarchy: Amon ===> Overmind ===> Kerrigan // Once the Overmind was killed, it was only Kerrigan while under the influence of Amon. This 'void energy' that Amon exerted from beyond the void was what allowed him influence/control over the Overmind and Kerrigan. The artifact specifically targeted this energy. This same energy would later be used to bring Amon back into the physical world and into a new body. The Psi-Disrupter hijacks that psionic link, severing the individual Zerg from Kerrigans control - also severing their connection to Amon and the void energy he exerts psionically. Without that, the artifact leaves them untouched. Of course, this is just a theory - but I think it is sound. Amons influence / touch / void energy is what the artifact targeted. The Psi-Disrupter severs that link, leaving them unaffected by the artifact.

@@Novocane23 How it works is there is no "mind control" or taking over/overriding anything. How it works, and you can read this in the lab, it literally just uses the same types of signals the Overmind uses to control them. So the Zerg think the tower is the Overmind.

most hilarious way to win I've seen yet. The mind control towers are very micro intensive so not everyone can do it, but using the infinite number of mutas to kill Kerrigan is absolutely priceless 😂

The Zerg wants more territories and planets, the Tal’darim are pissed and want to purge the dominion, some Protoss are beginning to form congruency groups that are against Artanis and his leadership, while the Valerian slowly and ever so slightly is becoming the second Mengsk, all of this causes a massive war which ends with nuclear annihilation on most planets................Then the U.E.D returns being lead by Helena (Dugalle’s wife) and take over the koprulu sector, then..........we have the return of Jim Raynor one last time, he’s now a bit older blinded one eye and is with Talandar (Fenix) trying to find a way to put an end to the U.E.D one.....last.......time.

That’s because Raynor would become the very thing he fought against. Mengsk used the Zerg to overthrow the Confederacy, he then abandoned Kerrigan and a lot of his own forces, Raynor then left him with his dirty Empire, If Raynor did what you say he’d do, then he’d be branded as an evil person and plus he’d become what he was fighting against.

Now I wonder, what are the differences between mind-controlled Zerg and Kerrigan's? Why does the Nova destroy only the enemy ones? Why does it not affect your own, even though they share the same biology? Is it the heart, or the soul? Does the artifact, probably just a powerful toy, actually discern it? Hell man, I came here to relax and have a great time, I didn't want this!

Pretty sure the artifact destroys the psi connection between the zerg so when you take control of a zerg unit they no longer have said connection.

The answer is; it’s a video game and the developers didn’t think too deeply into it. The nova kills enemy units, not just Zerg.

If it weren't for brothers in arms, I'd say the artifact cuts the connection to Amon. Violently. But since it also can be configured to harm Terrans unrelated to Amon, it's just space magic.

i never used control towers, used psi disruptors instead paired with lots of bunkers (i had the nydus worms one because killing the worms before they spat out zerg was a lot easier imo)

How'd you assign all hive mind control towers to a Hotkey? It seems you don't have any hotkeys assigned, and yet every time you zoom to incoming fliers, you quickly have all towers selected. Do you put it on F3 or something?
