The Stuibenfall in the Ötztal valley near Umhausen in Austria is the highest waterfall in the state of Tyrol. Next to the waterfall lies an exciting way to reach the top: A spectacular but actually not that hard Via Ferrata, which is also for beginners…but only if you’re not afraid of heights!
The Via Ferrata begins with a short suspended bridge over the river, followed by a very easy second part with easy climbing passages. After another short walk through the trees comes the third part, much longer and a bit more difficult. The maximum difficulty is level B/C with one C part.
The third part is definitely the hardest. The waterfall comes closer and closer and the way gets steeper and more exposed.
At the end, when we’ve reached the top of the waterfall, waits another highlight for us. Now we have to cross the waterfall on a wobbly suspended bridge. The perfect finish for this via ferrata.
Although the via ferrata is very exposed and quite steep, the overall difficulty is very moderate. If it is your first via ferrata ever, I maybe would recommend an easier one, but if you already have some experience, you definitely should be alright. I can really recommend doing this tour.
