How incredibly optimistic at the beginning when you thought you'd just put the bucket under the stump and rip it out.🤣😂 This is why I usually recommend people without access to full size excavators just rent a stump grinder. You'd have been done in 15-20 minutes with no surrounding damage.

For sure. I've watched a friend dig up stumps with a Bobcat E85, it even struggled in my ground. The stump grinder has crossed my mind more than once. I do have a question, how do they handle rock? I've only watched videos that the stumps they ground were in dirt. Thanks for the comment and watching.

@@semo-dyer5183 stump grinders use carbide teeth, like asphalt grinders. They're pretty hearty on an occasional rock hit.

I was thinking the same. I have one designed just need to get to work on it. I'll post another video once I get it done and try it. Thanks for the comment.

The roots on cedar trees on my place go wide not deep. Unfortunately they wind their way through the rocks but once you get them moving they will give up and pop out. Thanks for the comment.

Good morning Bryan, lots of rock in and around the roots., but the mini got the job done. I enjoyed the video. Have a great week, Ben

Thanks Ben. I'm getting used to the controls but still need a lot of practice using the correct technique. Have a great week. I'm looking forward to your next video.

It might have taken a long time but it saved you an aching body vs digging it out by hand.

So true. It would be bad enough if that was the only stump but I have more than I can count. Thanks for the comment and watching.

Good job! Just one thing, you have a micro excavator not a mini. Micro machines are one ton and less.

Thanks Bobby. You are right, now I wish I had a bigger one. Check out the video on removing a tree with the ripper I built. I just got done digging up three oak stumps. I find that the micro digs ok but the tractor is where it's at for pushing them over and out of the hole. Thanks for watching.

Good Morning Jack, I've noticed that on my videos too. I don't feel like I'm out of breath so I think I'm ok. I think it stems from a motorcycle accident I had when I was young and fractured my larynx. Thanks for your concern though and the view and comment... Bryan

I have dug up quite a few stumps and found that if I take the 2 outside teeth off, leaving the middle one, the one tooth makes it easier to get the rocks out. That way you don't have the resistance of all 3 teeth hitting the rock. Hope this helps..

What a great idea, I'm going to give that a try. Have you looked into a ripper? I was thinking about making one.

I have, but, seeing as I don't have a 'quick release' gismo on my digger, it's easier for me to just unbolt the teeth.. But, a ripper is a good purchase if you have a bunch of stumps to get out at one time.

I don't have on either so looks like it's time to try your trick. I do have another question. Have you had any problems with the body/part you sit on? Mine has play like all the ones I've seen but when I swing around with a heavy load it makes noise as it stops. Thanks in advance.@@bigken3057

There are 2 grease fittings in the front of the machine. I guess it's one for the upper track & one for the lower track. Grease each one with a pump or 3 &spin the machine 3 or 4 times in each direction, that should do it. @@semo-dyer5183

@@semo-dyer5183 Sounds like you need to grease the turrent. There should be 2 zert fittings on the right front of the machine. Grease both and spin it around a few times & grease them again. Hope this helps

Hi Eric. Thanks for subscribing and watching. I've watched several videos on fabbing one up and designed one based on that and the pictures I've seen. But then I remembered I had some of the ripper bars/teeth from a box blade that my tractor destroyed and redesigned it using one of those. Will it hold up, not sure till I try it. I think it will from the straight pull since the little excavator isn't all that powerful. What I don't know is whether it will take any side load. Stay tuned.
