Thanks for sharing; I just placed an order for an MTL stump auger. I really appreciated your point about it being easier on the machine and less of a big chaotic mess during operation. I'm also saving a few thousand bucks by pairing it with my auger drive that I already need rather than buying an entirely separate attachment.

You wont have any worries with the hydraulic drive, they are built to run and last.

Very good overview and demonstration of the stump planer. Would it work with a mini skid steer?
@getafterit39013 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I have no experience with mini skids, however I have seen a few reviews where most people where unhappy with the performance with stump planets due to it being so light weight.

It works with a mini skid steer I have a Toro Dingo and I built a stump planer for it but the secret of it is make sure it's no longer than 12 in. If it's too long you can't put the down pressure on. Mine works perfect

How about chasing roots how does it do
@getafterit39013 жыл бұрын
It does great as long as the roots are over 3 inches, but once it gets smaller than that it usually grabs and rips them out of the ground

Where can I get one? I think I would need a larger one for my skid steer. I have a bobcat high torque planetary gear auger that this should work with. My skid steer is 84 hp, high flow at 31 gpm komatsu 1020.

skidsteersolutions.com has a large selection of drive motors and planer bits... they have guides that will help you find the right attachment for your machine... I purchased mine from Jim Goodall Tree Equipment in Fort Myers, Florida, they could probably tell you what the right size drive would be for your machine as well

will it work on a" low flow" Bobcat S300 I think I have about an 80 horsepower kabota Thanks
@getafterit39013 жыл бұрын
My skid steer is a standard flow (17 GPM) and it works great ... I think the S300 is around 20 GPM so it should do even better

I've already broken my tip at the base but it's probably more my fault. I got to where I was changing angles mid cut because it wouldn't "dig" anymore. They're pine stumps and purely green. Have you found drier stumps are easier?
@getafterit39012 жыл бұрын
I broke several when I was first learning to use it .. the key is to not change angles after the bit is seated in the wood and reverse it out as you pick up … I have found species and age to be the ultimate factor in difficulty… rotten stumps are very hard to get a bite in
