In this video, I go from fiddling around to building a serious stump pulling lever that when paired with my 5 to 1 pulley system, can get me very high plant pulling leverage with not much set up time.

A more engaging thought experiment than a truck and a spare tire to redirect the chain.

These are interesting applied physics videos, thanks for sharing! Makes me want to buy some pulleys… Are you almost out of bushes and trees to pull up in your yard? Ha

Thanks. I still have a few more plants I can pull up.

Pulley system vs hand winch? Each has advantages over the other. Do you have any thoughts as to when to use one over the other? Great vids here. Just subd yesterday.

A hand winch is more cost effective, but slower for pulling things out. Range on a pulley system can be much longer, limited only by the length of the rope.

Weird question but how does the lever work? In order to increase the force on the plant you need to increase the way the chain has to move, but i dont see where that is in this case?

I made a video that shows experimentally that the closer you place the lever to the plant the more mechanical advantage the system has. It can be found here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2qaomOJgJxjgNU
