Hi, sometimes you just want to do it yourself and doin' things the easy way isn't always best or desirable. I did a trunk in my veggie garden much the same way but at the point of clearing all the earth resorted to using my chainsaw on the root system 'cos it's easy, or cheap enough, to sharpen a blade if it gets worn or even buy a new one for that matter. Thanks for doin' the video.

So you used a truck? Problem is my stump is in the back yard and there is not a chance of getting any vehicle there.

Yes, we used the truck to pull it out but not even sure it was 100% necessary. Since most of the roots were cut, it came out easy without even giving it much gas. Our back yard has no fence and is open to the street, something I would like to change in the future with a fence. Thank you for watching and commenting.

If you get in a spot you can't get the truck to I've had some luck with a farm jack. Just wedge it under one of those exposed roots and you should be able to work it out. Mine were inside a fenced yard. Heres a link to the video kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKCpZIhueqqYaqc

You could have used a small handlebar stump grinder and had it all ground up in 3-5 minutes! Digging like your doing is a waste of time, should just call your someone local grind it, faster and actually works!

Thank you for watching and commenting! Yes we could have used a stump grinder, it really would have been quicker. We didn't want to rent/use one, the stump was too small to justify the cost. It took longer than 3-5 minutes but saving time wasn't our goal. We had a blast working together as a family on our stump project! We actually had about 17 trees removed sometime ago, they were larger oaks and maples, the stump grinders definitely came out for those beasts!
