That encounter with the Russian team made me chuckle when I first saw it. UA: Come out and surrender! RU: Are you going to surrender? UA: No, you are! RU: No you! Before just giving up and shooting at each other. Unfortunately it does seem that, at least in that area, at that time, the Russians had high morale and a competent NCO to lead. There was confidence and competence in that engagement. We hear a lot about how the Russians are conscripts, that they've taken huge losses (well over 80% of their initial armed forces in 2022), a lack of training and morale etc etc, but they're still holding the line for the most part and even conducting moderately successful offensive assault operations in some parts of the line where the UA is weaker.

Usually it’s about ammo. If you take a russian trench with a 5.56 weapon and run out of ammo, the russians aren’t going to be carrying 5.56 weaponry or mags. Whereas if you use an AK, you can take the russian 5.45 ammo and replenish
