Stephen A. Smith shreds Shedeur Sanders for halftime Instagram merch post before OT loss
Stephen A. Smith has an admonishment for Shedeur Sanders.
Sanders, the quarterback of Colorado and son of head coach Deion Sanders, appeared to post a link on Instagram to buy his apparel during the Buffaloes’ game against Stanford on Friday night, which they led 29-0 at the half and lost 46-43 in double-overtime.
“The players got caught up in the shine their coach generated, and I’m calling out his son Shedeur Sanders, who I love, and I think has star written all over him,” Smith said Monday on ESPN’s “First Take”.
“But whether it was you, or by accident and it was somebody on your social media team, you cannot have something being posted at halftime of a damn game.”
Smith made the point that the younger Sanders needs to perform better on the football field if he is going to carry himself with the same “swag” and “bravado” of his father.
“Tom Brady and your dad already joked with you about what you were driving around with and how you needed to be in the film room, but guess what? It is no longer a laughing matter. Y’all are getting your ass kicked,” Smith continued.

“Show up, stand up, because your daddy and to the players on the squad, your coach, as much swag and bravado as he had, he was the best on the planet. Week-in and week-out you knew Deion Sanders was the best probably ever. Y’all aren’t on that level. Stop acting like it!”
After the loss on Friday night, Deion Sanders questioned if his team was “in love” with the game of football.
“What I just said to the team in the locker room to the team, they’ve gotta make up their mind,” Sanders told reporters. “Are they in love with this game, or they in like with it? When you love something, you give to it unconditionally. You give everything you’ve got, without a shadow of a doubt.

So another year and a half then? He's gone as soon as his kids move on. Colorado got a bargain bin blockbuster deal. But this isn't long term. All the hype men saying he should resign for a bigger contract etc.. I been saying this. Nothing in his coaching track record says he will continue to coach a team once his kids are no longer playing for said team. HAS NOT HAPPENED YET. I do not think it will happen at Colorado. I guess we'll see.

Shannon didn't say that he's playing too many snaps ALL THE TIME. He said that he played too much coming off a month-long absence because of a pretty serious liver injury. There is a difference. Btw, I ALSO agree with Ocho: Some folks are panicking WAY too fast; although, I do like seeing them as underdogs, as opposed to being favored to win, with unreasonably expectations for this young team. Wouldn't it be something, though, if the Buffs go on and shock the world, and win 6-7 games...and STILL make a bowl game?

Yea he never said all the time you right he said coming off the injury and in Colorado, it's called mile high for a reason its way up there lol, which makes it hard to get air in and out. And on them winning 6 to 7 games this year and that would be great, this team won 1 game last year and they already tripled that thru 1st 3 weeks!!!! Shit it's already a good year for them even if they only won those 3 well 4 now then it still be great season cuz just the fact he is there is making that team better everything he has brought with him has made them better and all the players that gonna go there cuz he the coach has made them way better. Without another win it's been great year for buffs hell won 4 times as many games from last year how is it not an improvement

@@calwatch1496 Yes. He has been great at giving speeches. However his motivational sayings aren't off the cuff. He has stated that he's been coming up with them and writing them down in his little black book for years and just waits for the opportunity to use them. Kidda like a rapper does but swears that they are freestyling. Sounds more like a master manipulator than motivator that makes him more like the other coaches than he would admit. Having said rhat anything that bothers Nick Saban is ok with me so I guess I'll have to wish him some success.

I find it interesting how in our culture, so many people who can’t articulate an actual argument resort to tossing around the word “hater” when someone states facts that disprove our desired narrative. Guys like Finebaum, Whitlock, and may others point out facts regarding this issue like; undisciplined players, most penalized team, disrespectful to the opposing team, poor fundamentals, always blame the kids after a loss, on and on. But hey, we don’t like those obvious facts because they harm the narrative that we are both selling and buying, and we can’t dispute them so let’s just villainize the messenger by claiming he is a “hater.” Even though it may not be true, it sure makes us feel better. Sometimes the mirror will reveal the real hater.

Yes, it was too many snaps coming back. I doubt they had him do a lot of conditioning when he was out a month. & yes the altitude is no joke. Normal People have died just from hiking in Colorado if you aren't careful. Plus you play the 2 position that does the most running on the field as a CB & WR. & he was definitely getting cooked because the DLine can't get any pressure & there is only so much time you could cover someone. So it was definitely a bad job by the Coaches to leave him out there too much. They could have at least put him on their #2 WR & just double #13. Anyway, I can go on & on. On to the next game against FUCLA. I'll be there supporting the Boys. Sko Buffs!

Marcus Freeman inhered a very talented Notre Dame team from Brian Kelly, and they didn't win a title in his first season as head coach. Oregon was 10-4 in 2021. In 2022, they hired Dan Lanning, who went 10-3 in his first season. Oregon had a lot of talent on the roster before Dan Lanning was hired, but he only managed to win the same number of games as the previous season. Colorado had no talent. Coach Prime and the other coaches are building a program from scratch. Rome wasn't built in a day; Hawaii will not be rebuilt in a day, and Colorado football will not go from 1-11 to winning the national championship in nine months. You goofballs expect Colorado to go undefeated. Nebraska also had a new coach state this year and Matt Rhule is 3-3. Ya'll haters want to come at Prime's neck after seven games. Ya'll wack hell.

I was an athlete many life times ago. However what I can tell you for sure...regardless of what it is...if you have a highly honed skill you use on a regular basis (i.e. several times a week) and you go more than a couple weeks without using it, there is a tendency to get rusty. I would imagine that would be double for an athlete because it's not just the highly trained mentality of an athlete, it's the muscle memory and excellence practiced on a regular basis as well. It normally takes a few weeks to get "back in the saddle" so to speak. Also there is a definite difference between practice and facing competitors. It's going to take him a few games before he's back to his pre-injury performance IF he doesn't have any emotional scars from that hit. Only time will tell. So I tend to agree with Shannon...I'm not sure if throwing him back in the deep end is the best move. They should probably only be playing him at about 1/2 to 3/4s of his output for a couple games THEN let him go back to full-time.

That Stanford loss was horrific... It really was ... Watched the vibe going into the locker room at half time and the vibe felt like they were down 0-29.... Developing a winning culture takes time especially under the circumstances. Hunter is needed way more on defense vs offense. Would like to see the main stay if his snaps on the defensive side and maybe 10-12 offense (he is out of the Heisman race) when and if the offense has stalled. The conf ain't no joke ain't no gimmies on the schedule will be fun to see who steps up defensively as there is no way in hell a team should be able to score 46 on you in a half...

Not too many snaps, but he was out a month, which is a fair point. They should have disguised him a bit more in coverage and preserved him. However, it doesn't change the fact they allowed Stanford to come back and win. However, there's no need to panick at all. I don't see him falling off, I just think it's a generational thing. Deion is old school, but relevant to culture. When you have kids that don't have reverence for those that have gone before him, and only see the glamour and shine, it makes it tough. But this is YEAR 1!

I admit it’s hard and frustrating sometimes to watch the Buffaloes…but I will never bet against Coach Prime and his ability to recruit, inspire and motivate. Hell they won 1 game last year so by that metric their season is already a success. Prime has told his players repeatedly…having the spotlight on you is great when you’re doing good but it also shows your flaws. I think the players understand that clearly now.

Sharp correct, if you lacerate your liver and laid off for a month you have to get back up to game speed, you have to get back to 100% because you playing at roughly 75%. The full healing process of a lacerated liver alone takes longer than a month to fully heal 100%, that's why coach Prime said it's up to Travis if he ready or not, that's because they know he not at 100% but at a percentage 75% where he is capable to play. Then you have him play on both sides of the ball already that's why he gassed out the 2nd half, although shut #13 down the first half period, so not to take anything away from #13, but I believe 100% in my mind that if Travis was at 100% like coming into the season he would have shut #13 down hands down period.

100% with Shannon said was correct. ochocinco was trying to argue against it trying every angle possible and at the end he had to concede and just say you're right because it's just facts. Shannon is 110% Deon He loves that man so was ochocinco. at the end of the day I will ride and die with Prime and the Buffs However, Prime is a man's man He's not here to be cuddled and told you're doing great when they're not doing well. It was a bad game a bad look It's his first season people need to stop acting like they were supposed to go 16 and 0. That's BS. You can't name one other college or NFL coach in the history of time that has ever been drug through the mud as much as Prime in their first season. That is ridiculous. It's disgusting truthfully. And that's all I really care about at this point. And when eventually he does have the players that he deserves to have all four and five star like Alabama and Georgia the minute he loses one game they're going to say Well he did lose one game. When he starts getting all these great recruits they're going to say he's not getting those great recruits because he's a great coaches because he's a celebrity! They are going to continue to move the needle and move the goal post when it comes to prime that's just the fact. No matter what he does THEY I'm going to do everything in their power to push back because the system that THEY created is literally crumbling in front of the eyes and there's nothing they can do. Because it doesn't matter if he loses the rest of the season college and NFL sports before anything are a BUSINESS And when it comes to the business of sports he is by far the national champion. When it comes to the BUSINESS of sports he has broken every single record in the history of college football! When it comes to the BUSINESS of sports he is Alabama and Georgia and LSU rolled into one. He generates more money than all of these schools combined. UCLA One of the most well-known schools in the world can't even sell out their stadium. But the minute they're playing Colorado The game sold out weeks ahead of time Go figure.

Well in all fairness CU should have won that game. I was not in the locker room so I don’t know what was said at halftime to the players. I do put the blame on Coach Prime and the coaching staff for letting those kids get comfortable and not knowing how to close out a team. You have to put people to sleep and I don’t know how you coach that in today’s young athletes without people thinking that you are crazy. You have to commit to something in your life and football is short lived and unforgiving.

Colorado went into the halftime up 29-0...and then took halftime and the next 20 minutes of the game off on both offense and defense. The telling moment was an answer to a question in the post-game press conference... A member of the local press asked Shedeur Sanders what Coach Prime had said to the team about keeping up momentum in the locker room at halftime.... His answer boiled down to he could not remember, he wasn't paying attention. Which tells you all you need to know about the discipline and focus that have been instilled in the Buffs. When the star QB isn't paying attention to his coach..... and dad....at halftime... Nick Saban, Mack Brown, or Jim Harbaugh would never have put up with this... But they start from a place of discipline, not flash or hype.

They could have easily run 6 minutes off the clock. Instead they turn the ball over having only ran 2:35 off the clock. They played at a faster pace than Stan. They did this the entire half.
