That drum beat had me chuckling like Mutley. I appreciate the time & effort to edit that in… it’s the little things. 🤣 Don, ya still crack me up with your driest sense of humour. Please never retire that. Good to see you’re still an opalholic. That mosaic was amazing by the way, pat yourself on the back. I know how difficult working with resin can be. I may have LOL’d at your first attempt, but only because I could relate. Laughed with you, not at you. Things are good down here in Oz, the nursery is extremely busy. Congratulations to all the winners.

So happy that you have posted another video. You are definitely the most humourous, informative and watchable of all the opalists that I have seen. It always seems like such a long time between your posts. I would like to tell you that I have finally got my first opals. I bought them from an Australian woman on Facebook. I originally bought a chunk of white crystal opal that was crazed, thus only 70 Australian dollars. Anyway, to cut a long story short, that shattered when she was packing it. So she got in touch with me and offered me an alternative. She also added a piece for my partner who had just died and an extra for me. Eventually I received what you see in the pictures. I think that for £50 which included postage and packing I got a real bargain. Whatever, they mean the absolute world to me, and that's what really matters. By the way, having seen your latest post, I first got really interested in opal through watching your videos. Thank you Colonel.

When I was a kid in the 60s, my brother and I would head out to scour the shores of Lake Winnepesaukee and Lake Wentworth in New Hampshire with a specific desire to find native American arrow heads. The amazing thing is that we would find perfectly shaped flint arrowheads, usually in knee deep shallows of the lakes! I am loathe to suspect him, but I think my brother absconded with the whole collection when I went to college.

@@PulitzerOpal i don't think you understand I have over 500 hand shaped stones and stones in the making from watching your videos. I understand how to dome them, follow the color bars and choose the best side and direction to set. I learned dipping from you ,reading and practice over 3 years now. I have been successful creating cabochons, time and time again and learned with other stone's before discovering through you that my birthstone wasn't just green lol 🤣. Then I decided to too stick with opal and also cut other stone's as well. It takes me a bit longer because I have created a process without a cabbing machine. And I hand Polish from 400 to 5,000 after using my faceting machine as a ghetto flatlap for a rough dome. Then shap by hand with old methods such as a tri sharpening stone, wet sandpaper pads and papers. Abd I enjoy it. I'm a quick learner and adapt + I'm currently buying as I can afford them the wheels for my 1960s still working Beacon star cab machine that I had bought from a nice Canadian man who could've sold it for dar more then he did. But decided I'd have more fun with it as it was just collecting dust in his shop rotting away. Thank you for helping me with the stepping stones to my many hobbies. I try to always invest my hobbies in future investments for the years later to come in life. Knowledge and practice are all I need for flint knapping now. And I thank you for your every word of information on your channel and kindness of giveaways. As well as some pretty funny rants as well. Have a wonderful day Don. And thanks again for staying in contact with me for over 4 yrs now. Bye for now. From... Patrick McGovern

I'd say poor Paco, getting popped by Hopper like that, but I'm sure he's done his fair share of pop and runs himself. As always a hoot and a pleasure learning something new. I've been creating stained glass art for years but I'm selling my equipment and switching to to cabbing and grinding soon because the process is like discovering treasure each time you polish. And although opal is my favorite rough, I know that I'll start rubbing and polishing anything that sits still long enough. 😜 P.S. as an avid reader definitely going to check those great references you suggested. Many thanks for your witty and wise content Colonel.
