Captain Tristan Mortlock is an award winning Super Yacht Captain with over 15 years experience. Thank you for a glimpse of a spectacular yacht from an era gone by that has been preserved as new! I’m a yacht carpenter, worked on mostly sailing yachts, been retired 11 years now 77 yrs old, can thoroughly appreciate seeing a yacht in such fantastic condition. Kudos to the owner, and crew for the meticulous condition she’s in! Thank you for making an old sailors heart sing!

I used to watch motor vessel channels. Now I watch sailing vessal channels because I think they are gorgeous when at full sail. If I were younger, I'd prefer a sailboat. That 1928 sailing yacht was stunning!

Beautiful Video!! Perfect! You put us right there, the views and sounds, the crew interaction. You explained but didn't intrude or distract. You encouraged us to watch the art. That sailing yacht is beautiful, a treasure. It's appearance is a picture to be kept. If possible, I'd like learn its history. My hearing is becoming un-trustworthy so, as I watch again, I'll get my best headphones and crank-up to 11. (LOL!) Also, every inch of AWOL looks absolutely spotless!!

Amazing skills. I worked in a boat yard a few years after high school. Was a very fun challenge to maneuver the various types and sizes of vessels into the travel lift for service. Bigger single screws only turn one direction backing. If you think ahead you use that to walk the boat sideways into position. Always communicating with onboard crew as well as dock hands. Man I miss that job..... well not so much the barnacle scraping in winter

So I had the incredible pleasure of sailing on Cambria a few years ago in the Classic annual regatta in Antibes , the then Skipper and the guy who knows her every plank Chris is an unbelievable Man , I knew him through Playing Squash ( he was not bad at that too ! Lol ) This Yacht is one of the world finest sailing vessels and if you ever get a chance to see her in her home port of Cannes you will see how gorgeous she is and how meticulously she is maintained . If Chris reads this ,, Hi from Neil and hope all is well pal and I still wear the Cambria baseball cap you gave me and I’m still Smashing that little black ball around the court ..

That is one long mainsail boom! All of us to go sea if we can. Some do it with the flick of a key and some do so far naturally. I have the most respect for good captains, and the opportunity to see boats in motion (particularly slow motion) is a delight..not to mention a bit of education. To see the care and detail on the motor yacht AWOL is a pleasure and reminds me there is more to yachting than just turning a key! Thanks for a great video and appreciation for those who go to sea for pleasure.. After all, the ocean is a wilderness.. And god can be found in the wilderness as all of us who venture from shore know.. even if it is in style.

I used to have to get my 30ft sailboat in to a very tight space, going in astern, in San Pedro California. I found if I got it perfectly lined up to where I wanted the boat to go and made sure the rudder was amidships then reversed in slowly with tiny helm corrections just fast enough to stop it wandering to the side I usually got it in OK. One time a spectator threw five dollars at me. I guess he bet I would crash.

Great topic Tristan and good coverage. Med mooring can be difficult at the bet of times and that was a text book lesson. I would love to see a future video on Med moorings with a little more theory, managing bow/ stern lines, prop walk ect...., great videos!

Pretty boats , thrusters have been a real game changer in the Yachting world as a teenager who grew up in Florida i worked part time in a marina in Miami and i saw my share of millions of dollars worth of vessels bouncing off each other and the docks from Inexperienced owners
