That 88o is really nice 👍 Although I’ve never been to a coin show I’ve seen many coin shows posted and been to other shows like gun and outdoors shows and I’ve never bought anything. It’s almost like a museum atmosphere and everyone is displaying their nicest stuff and it’s all full blown retail or higher. I don’t pay retail, I never pay retail and I’m a very patient buyer. I get the impression your the exact same way It seems that the only people who get good deals are fellow dealers and a lot of that happens before the show starts. That may be a good strategy going forward come early before it opens and say your a dealer A vast majority of my coins have come from auction which is the only way to occasionally buy a way underpriced coin. Rarely a estate, garage sale or something like that too

You are exactly right! It feels like the dealers are there just to show off their collection and not sell lol. I’m definitely the same as you when it comes to collecting. I am extremely patient and will usually only buy a coin if it is a good deal. This way I don’t over buy and gradually increase my collection. It also helped you you ever need to resell you won’t loose money and often times make money:)

Exactly. I hear lots of people mention to just collect what you like and don’t worry about cost too much ect. I’m sorry but I’m the exact opposite. I often buy whichever coins are the best deal and not necessarily the coins that I wanted the most. The resale value is really important to me because I don’t plan on taking them to the grave with me. Not to mention I’m throwing around a lot of money and I plan on selling off in probably my late 50s early 60s so as to have a real nice savings account for retirement

@@tylonnplatinumthe3rd659 yes, I agree. I do like to collect certain coins but if there is a great deal that comes along I will definitely jump on it. Coin collecting should be considered an investment at the end of the day. People who don’t do their research and don’t care about the price are the reason why there are so many scammers and dealers who take advantage. Just like investing you need to do your research before you buy. If you don’t, most likely you will overpay and regret it in the future.

Thank you! I was definitely happy to find a nice Morgan like this at a great price at a coin show. It’s probably the best deal I’ve ever gotten at a coin show!

Very nice Morgan! It is true one has to shop around. I have found good deals at shows, but like yourself I have encountered dealers that over price their coins. I actually had a dealer look up the replacement cost of a coin before he would give me a price on the one he had for sale. I thought that was odd. Thanks for the video.

Thank you! That is very strange. I feel like some of these “dealers” are just at coin shows to show off their collection lol

Do you have any idea what it cost the dealer to set up for a coin show. Just because you don’t get a deal you are slamming the dealers. These guys work hard if you think it’s so easy go set up yourself and see what it cost. Auctions online you don’t get to see and touch the coin. You can’t compare the two.
@jadonnoble5621
@jadonnoble5621 11 ай бұрын
I understand what your saying. I’m sure it takes a long time to set up at a coin show and I’m assuming it cost around $100-$200 to get a spot. This being said, that doesn’t mean you should be asking way above what coins are selling for in auctions. Also, I would think since dealers are invested heavily in coin shows they would actually want to sell and price their coins at a fair market price.

I’m sorry but with this huge influx of dealers many of them very young 16-22 years old it can’t be that difficult as opposed to running another business. If you have a brick and mortar shop then sure but flipping coins for a quick buck and paying $200 for a table ain’t shit in my book. Try building a house or starting a restaurant and then talk to me about difficult. I mean this respectfully of course but cmon man as our president would say

@@tylonnplatinumthe3rd659 Being a coin dealer is definitely not the hardest job. I feel like the biggest detractor for being a coin dealer is the super slim margins. I would have a tough time making a career being a coin dealer when margins are like 10-20% on most coins. Selling by quantity is really the only way to do really well as a coin dealer.
@tylonnplatinumthe3rd659

Good point about the margins. I’m sorry but I’m not a huge fan of most dealers and don’t have sympathy for them. The young “quick flippers” I’m not a fan of either. I’m old school and come from a time when you payed your dues and worked your way up the ladder. I’ve been in my industry for 30 years and I’m just now getting to the point where I’m ready to open my own business

Certain coins sell over retail. I own a coin shop coins are driven by the market. You buy a coin because you like it. As far as 16 to 20 year old dealers I do t see a lot of them and I do a lot of shows. Don’t slam and stereotype coin dealers everyone is different. Sounds like you want to buy everything at wholesale. I got in this business to treat people right and sell at a fair price and there is nothing wrong with selling a coin for retail. I’ve built houses as well I know what things cost once again you have no idea what it take to set up for a coin show. The display cases cost money the coin guides cost money the coin’s being sold cost money it’s a big investment to make very little money. Now I’m talking to you. I’m very knowledgeable in this business I’m in this business. To say most coin dealers are over priced is nonsense. I don’t sell to flippers I sell to collectors there is a big difference and I can pick up on them as soon as they come to a show or my store. Go to a brick and mortar and build a relationship with the store owner you will see you will get better deals and better coins.
