Very fortunate you were able to recover the funds. Coin auctions are a tiny part of ebay so I think the powers there don't see the advantage of improvement. I, as you have along with many others here in the comments have been taken advantage of on ebay. I sold Morgan dollars, Mexican libertabs and other coins for over 10 years on there but came to an abrupt stop a couple years ago. I grew tired of the increasing scammers. On the flip side , I don't understand how some sellers continually get away with noticably deceptive pictures..the name a couple, Morgan Dealer, Auction Kings Rare Coins... I'm sure there's more but I see these two all the time. Lastly, it does no good reporting scam auctions such as fake coins. I bet I've reported over 30 this year and never saw one pulled down.

@@morgansinner thank you for the feedback! Yes, I agree. There are definitely more buyer scammers on eBay but there are definitely some deceptive sellers as well. I believe why auction kings and some others don’t have bad feedback is because they all accept returns with no questions asked and they pay for shipping. I’m sure a fifth of their coins are returned but they make so much on them that the 4/5 that keep them make up for the returns. I’ve had mixed results with reporting fake coins. I feel like multiple people have to report an item to have it taken down unfortunately.

It sounds to me like the only reason you won is because they cracked the coin out of the ANACS slab. The problem with eBay is (1) They initially give the benefit of the doubt to buyers in all disputes; (2) Most of what they do is automated; (3) It is a P.I.T.A. to get a real live person at eBay; (4) When you do finally get a person to help, they don’t really understand the numismatic market and the in’s and out’s of coin grading, TPG’s, etc.; (5) eBay sort of has an unspoken expectation that sellers should just suck it up and absorb the loss from the occasional buyer who scams you. It is my view that all of this encourages scammers to play games with sellers hoping to profit from it. eBay should bring back the option for sellers to leave negative feedback for bad buyers. They also need to train and employ customer service reps for numismatic transactions specifically. eBay is the world’s biggest online coin marketplace. There is no excuse for them just assigning some know-nothing to handle your dispute.

Mine was in a generation 4.5 holder, the color was way off on the lable, the date had too much space between the 1 and the 9, the hologram was a cheap sticker and wasn't printed toward the top, the coin wasn't silver, the barcode on the front didn't scan using the pcgs app because it wasn't a real barcode.
