You should be proud!! I have lots of old crochet books with patterns that I couldn't figure out - not like you do. I have read a few inspired by what you are doing, then said to myself, "Uh......no way." So you should be very proud.
@bnhietala Жыл бұрын
Oh, you definitely nailed this one. And you deserve to be proud of yourself because that was an absolute marathon! Not only were the Victorian's obsessed with death and the occult, but they were apparently sadistic, as well. To write patterns like this, they HAD to be! Good on you. This was SO confusing, I'm sure I never would've made it. 💖

That would make an elegant pincushion. I see it tacked to a round, overstuffed puff made of pink satin. I'm envisioning a rose pink, but really, any color with sufficient contrast to show off the medallion would be lovely.

I've always been told that if a pattern states sc it is a US terminology as the UK don't have a single crochet stitch.
@kaytiej8311 Жыл бұрын
I love that you have done so many patterns from so many different eras that you recognise the language and can estimate the year of the pattern. But what a puzzle this one was! Because I'm used to UK terms I was sitting watching almost yelling what the pattern meant. Sorry I couldnt help in real time.😢

We need to call you the Crochet Pattern Detective, you had that pattern figured right out! I was sat there to begin with thinking that it was gonna get the better of you, because I didn't even have a slightest inkling what the author wanted, but nope you soldiered on! What a gorgeous little motif!

I'm so glad the algorithm put your channel on my radar a couple of weeks ago. I just learned how to crochet a year and a half ago, but couldn't read patterns (I was only able to follow video tutorials). Watching this series has helped me tremendously with understanding crochet patterns and now I have a newfound love for making doilies. I am so appreciative of the work you put into your videos. I ❤️ vintage mysteries, I live in U.K. but crochet American as I think it makes more sense (I convert U.K. patterns to US before I start the pattern) I can’t believe how you got the outcome from those instructions! You NAILED IT & you should be proud. Please keep these mysteries coming, some I will make others not, but I thoroughly enjoy them all. 👏👏❤️❤️🇬🇧

Like everyone here, I love watching you figure out these utterly confusing patterns! I'm Dutch, living in the UK, and taught myself to crochet; I find American terms easier to understand. Well, I did, until you explained the differences between UK and USA terms throughout this series, so I hope you make many more. But, I do wonder about something... I noticed that you don't always read what is there. For instance in this video in 'round 2', you read "make three stitches into one" but it says "make three stitches in one to make a turn". Have you ever been tested for dyslexia? Because that is something that my brother (who is dyslexic) does: he changes word order or skips entire words altogether. Whether you are dyslexic or not, any pattern that you decipher (or just seem to make work, one way or another) is quite a feat and I can't wait to try one out eventually... when I feel a little more confident with my hooks. Although, that will always be in a bigger yarn and hook... how do you do it with that find thread and those tiny hooks? It looks like witchcraft!

I wish I could respond as you work it. The clue, second column, is : “begin in the centre”. The British spelling is the clue. So appreciate you patience to figure these vintage patterns out. US was spelling centre “center” by 1800’s.
